SANTA ANA, Calif. (CN) – A boxing coach raped a 14-year-old student and kept photos of the rape in his home, the boy claims in court.
John Doe sued Anthony Serrano, the Undisputed Champ Boxing Club, Orange County, and the Orange County Youth Commission, claiming Serrano sexually assaulted him at Serrano’s home, at the club and during boxing trips. Continue reading

SANTA ANA – Eight men arrested in an undercover sting operation pleaded guilty and were sentenced today for soliciting sex or sex acts from an undercover police officer, whom they believed to be a prostitute. The convicted defendants include: Michael Davis, 36; Heladio Herrera, 21; Silvestre Jacob, 40; Paulino Martinez, 40; Tony Nguyen, 45; Luis Ortiz, 27; Francisco Rios, 33; and Herbert Yoneoka, 68. All of the defendants pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of soliciting another to engage in prostitution. Herrera, Jacob, and Martinez also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. Continue reading

It has been a few months since I took a look at the food safety records of many of the most popular bars and restaurants in Downtown Santa Ana. The news is not great.
Orange County’s Health Care Agency inspects our restaurants but they are not required to post letter grades, thanks to Supervisor Janet Nguyen who was the key vote against letter grades a few years ago. She did not tell anyone at the time that her own husband and her then Chief of Staff owned a Lee’s Sandwiches in Stanton that at the time had a terrible health record.

According to a fantastic new article in Santanero, Kingsby has set up shop over at the Spurgeon Building, in the Santa Ana Artists Village. He’s a part of the art collective ‘X is the Weapon’ as well as showing many of his pieces in local galleries and shows. Additionally, Kingsby is designing the cover for KRS-ONE and Maylay Sage’s upcoming collaboration.
The Santa Ana Youth Business Network Project (YBNP) is hosting a Community Voice Rally on Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 10 am to 2 pm, at the Delhi Center, located at 505 East Central Ave., in Santa Ana.
