Advisory: Orange County High School of the Arts on “Lock Out” for police activity in the area. Students and staff safe.
The Santa Ana Unified School District’s police department notified the community, via email that Tte “Lock Out” at Orange County High School of the Artswas lifted at 4:12 pm today. They also reported that the area is secure.

Community: City of Santa Ana’s Facilities-Fleet Maintenance-Central Stores is Honored with ASE’s Blue Seal Award
SANTA ANA, CA (November 30, 2012) – The Finance Department’s Facilities-Fleet Maintenance-Central Stores (FMCS) staff recently received word of its latest professional honors: the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Blue Seal. This award recognizes a select group of public and private fleet organizations whose staff and facilities meet ASE professional standards. To receive the award, 75% of the technicians performing diagnosis and repair must be ASE-certified. Additionally, each service area offered in the shop must be covered by at least one ASE-Certified Technician. Moreover, at least one of those ASE-Certified Technicians must be certified in Alternative Energy Technology. Continue reading
By now you have read about the ruckus in Santa Ana yesterday when there was a “after a confrontation between a large crowd and police officers Wednesday evening, in the area of West Camille Street,” according to the O.C. Register.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, an Orange County Fire Authority crew responding to a medical call in the 3300 block of West Camille Street requested police assistance, telling dispatchers that two men were harassing them while they were trying to attend to a patient, Cmdr. Steve Colon said. As a result, three men and a juvenile were arrested, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.
But hold the presses. The community is fighting back. Apparently the 17 year old who was arrested, Sergio Galan, is a 4.0 student who speaks English quite well. But the cops who beat him up and arrested him did not know that as they allegedly made anti-Mexican statements. Continue reading

As a creative end to Mercy House’s “30 Days in 30 Ways” campaign to raise interest in Homeless Awareness Month, a silent auction and interactive art exhibit will take place at the historic Santora Arts Building in collaboration with United Artists of Santa Ana (UASA). A warm clothing drive and holiday art faire will round out the evening. City of Santa Ana, Downtown Orange County Advisory: UPDATE: Alcohol Ordinance Schedule
SANTA ANA, CA (November 28, 2012) – Planning Commissioners, Business Owners, Residents and All Other Interested Stakeholders:
The city of Santa Ana wanted to let you know about schedule changes for the proposed alcohol ordinance. The Planning Commission completed its review Monday, November 26, 2012 and has forwarded its recommendation to the City Council. The next step will involve review of the ordinance by the Public Safety Committee, a three-member sub-committee of the City Council that has been discussing the alcohol policies throughout the process. The committee had been scheduled to meet last night but a problem with the public notice for the meeting caused it to be cancelled. Continue reading

OCTA Board Approves Proposed Fare Increases
The OCTA board of directors approved a proposed bus fare increase after two months of community outreach and discussion about the measure to help address rising operation costs. The board approved the proposal as a way to ensure the agency’s eligibility for the state funds that primarily support its bus system.

The City of Santa Ana has taken a huge leap forward with their redesigned website. I am not sure who they hired to do the work but the new site looks terrific.
Kudos to Santa Ana City Manager Paul Walters, our City PIO (Public Information Officer) Jose Gonzalez, and Mayor Miguel Pulido as well as any and all city staff who were involved in the city’s website redesign.
