Grammy-nominated DJ to headline free entertainment at OC Pride on 8/10
This Saturday, August 10, 2013, from Noon to 10:00 pm, OC Pride will return to the streets of Downtown Santa Ana on Fourth Street, between Broadway and Ross, courtesy of the Orange County Equality Coalition (OCEC). Santa Ana Police request assistance identifying- Bank Robbery Suspect Wanted – Chase Bank 3600 S. Bristol, Aug -8-2013
On 8/08/13 at about 1535 hours, the suspect entered the Chase Bank and passed a demand note to the bank teller demanding money. After the teller handed the suspect an undisclosed amount of money he fled out of the bank through the southwest door. The suspect was last seen walking north through the west parking lot. 1st and 2nd District Bikeways Collaborative
The 1st and 2nd District Bikeways Collaborative is a coordinated planning effort led by the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) involving many agencies including the County of Orange, Caltrans, and the cities of Buena Park, Cypress, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Santa Ana, Stanton, and Westminster. One of the primary objectives of this effort is to build consensus on regional bikeway corridors and to help position local jurisdictions for funding opportunities.
The results of this effort will be documented in the Districts 1 & 2 Bikeways Strategy, which will identify a set of regional bikeway corridors that connect major activity areas such as employment centers, transit stations, colleges, and universities. The Bikeways Strategy will also provide an implementation toolbox of bikeway treatments and enhancements, as well as information on bikeways funding resources. Continue reading

I-405 Full Shutdown Planned For ‘Bridge Bash’
Freeway will close for 20 hours Aug.17-18 between I-605 and Valley View Street in Orange County
ORANGE – The San Diego Freeway (I-405) is scheduled to be fully closed in both directions from 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 through 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, between the San Gabriel River Freeway (I-605) and Valley View Street in Westminster.
The 20-hour full freeway closure is necessary so crews can demolish the bridge linking the southbound I-405 to eastbound Garden Grove Freeway (SR-22) as part of the West County Connectors project. Construction of a new connector bridge was completed late last month and is now being used by drivers. Continue reading
New City Manager’s huge contract blows up in the local media
The Santa Ana City Council’s incredibly ridiculous decision to make their new City Manager, David Cavazos, a multi-millionaire (when you add in his six figure pension from the City of Phoenix) has backfired in a big way – exploding on the airwaves of our local radio and TV stations. Arizona City Council candidate Keogh Parks piled on too, at a City Council candidates’ forum, according to KJZZ News.

Why did the City Council agree to make the new City Manager a millionaire?
It is very hard to understand why the Santa Ana City Council would offer a contract to our new City Manager, David Cavazos, that will essentially make him a millionaire. What were they thinking?
Consider that in Santa Ana the per capita income, was $15,243 in 2010 and while it is projected to increase to $16,383 by 2015, according to the City of Santa Ana, the per capita income in California, is $29,634 and the per capita income in Orange County is $34,416, according to the U.S. Census. New Santa Ana City Manager Will Get Big Salary and Pension

In addition to more than $550,000 in compensation in the coming year from Santa Ana, new City Manager David Cavazos is also set to begin collecting a six-figure annual pension from Phoenix, according to a report in the Arizona Republic newspaper.
The 53-year-old Cavazos worked at Phoenix City Hall for 26 years and was city manager for the last four, which puts him in line for an annual pension of at least $130,000, which means that his income in the coming year will at minimum be close to $700,000 and perhaps significantly higher.
