The Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs PAC has rejected Santa Ana Council Members David Benavides and Michele Martinez as well as their colleague Roman Reyna, who is running an ill-advised campaign against Mayor Miguel Pulido.

All three of these candidates are thought to have connections to Santa Ana’s gangs. They were all involved in firing our former Chief of Police, Paul Walters, and they voted to get rid of the SAPD’s Strike Force. All three of them were also caught ignoring several SAPD officers who were being honored a few weeks ago at a Santa Ana City Council meeting. Continue reading→

MAN CHARGED FOR MURDERING VICTIM AND DUMPING BODY BEHIND RESTAURANT

SANTA ANA – A man was charged today for murdering a victim and dumping the body behind an Anaheim restaurant. Randy Lee Parkerson, 38, Anaheim, was charged today with one felony count of murder. If convicted, Parkerson faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. Parkerson is being held on $1 million bail. The scheduled arraignment for today was continued to Oct. 31, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.

On June 10, 2014, Parkerson is accused of meeting with 28-year-old Cesar Reyes (Zoraida Reyes) and murdering him (her) by choking him (her). Parkerson is accused of placing the victim’s body in the trunk of his car for one day and dumping the body behind a fast food restaurant in Anaheim. Continue reading→

MAN SENTENCED TO 80 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR SHOOTING-MURDER OF VICTIM PREPARING COFFEE IN BAKERY

SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced today to 80 years to life in state prison for the shooting-murder of a victim in a Santa Ana bakery while the victim was preparing a cup of coffee. Israel Pena Lopez, 38, Santa Ana, was found guilty by a jury Sept. 17, 2014, of one felony count of murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and a sentencing enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death. Lopez also pleaded guilty today in an unrelated case to one felony count each of shooting at an occupied vehicle with a sentencing enhancement for committing the crime for the benefit of a criminal street gang. He was sentenced 15 years in state prison to be served concurrent to the 80 years to life in state prison sentence.

Co-defendant Frankie Esteban Giraldo, 32, Santa Ana, was charged with murder but was found not guilty in this case. Continue reading→

Councilwoman Martinez says she won’t mind if she isn’t reelected in November

Santa Ana Councilwoman Michele Martinez, told NBC News this week that she “will not mind if she isn’t reelected in November.” She was interviewed after this week’s City Council meeting had to be canceled after a punk in a “F*ck the police” hat wouldn’t leave.

“As I sat here and listened to all the comments, it’s really disheartening. People want to come here and threaten us,” said Martinez. “At the end of the day let me tell you I can go to sleep at night, so I don’t care if you feel that I have not done a job that you’ve asked me to do.”

The sad reality for Martinez is that she has been pandering to the FTP crowd for some time – but as she saw on Tuesday night they are insatiable. They are anarchists and nothing she or any other politician does is going to mollify them. Continue reading→

Supervisor Shawn Nelson will help collect and donate care package items going to Kabul, Afghanistan at his “Cigars for Heroes” collection rally on October 26. Veterans, military family members and citizen-patriots are welcome to stop by and drop donations, take pictures and savor a cigar while collecting items that will be sent to active-duty military in November.

Orange County Confirms Three Cases of Enterovirus D68

(Santa Ana) – The Orange County Health Care Agency has received confirmation from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that three patients in Orange County have tested positive for enterovirus D68. The three patients, all of them children, are unrelated and are not linked with any community outbreak of the illness.

There has been an increase in enterovirus D68 reported across the country over the last few months, resulting in enhanced surveillance locally. “Due to the heightened awareness and surveillance for enterovirus D68, it is not surprising to identify cases in Orange County’” said Dr. Eric Handler, Public Health Officer. Individual cases of enterovirus D68 have also been reported in communities throughout the state, including several counties in Southern California, but outbreaks of respiratory illness have not been reported in California. Community Alert: Public Invited: Community Meetings Oct. 22 and Oct 25–City’s Consolidated Plan for Housing and Community Development

The City of Santa Ana welcomes your input about how to spend the federal housing and community development funds it will receive during the next five years (2015-2019). The City is developing a five-year Consolidated Plan, which will describe how these federal funds will be spent. The Community Development Agency is hosting one Focus Group and two Community Meetings during the month of October to obtain citizen input about the community’s housing needs and social services. This funding must benefit low and moderate income persons. Your participation and input is appreciated.

Barricaded Suspect Arrested for Outstanding Warrant

MISSION VIEJO, Calif. – (October 9, 2014) – On Thursday, October 9, 2014, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Jason Nicholas Miller, 33, Mission Viejo, on an outstanding felony arrest warrant for domestic violence, stalking and violation of a court order as well as obstructing/delaying a peace officer resulting from today’s incident.

At approximately 10:00 a.m. this morning, deputies attempted to serve the outstanding arrest warrant on Miller in the driveway of the residence located at 26262 Avenida Calidad. Miller fled on foot and retreated into the residence where he remained barricaded for approximately four hours. Numerous commands and directives were made to Miller in an attempt to gain his compliance and surrender to deputies. Continue reading→

Have you wondered how in the world Santa Ana Councilman David Benavides and his sidekick, Roman Reyna, who is an ill-advised Mayoral candidate this year, are funding their respective political campaigns? As we saw in 2012, the high density apartment developers are backing these guys – often in the form of secretive Independent Expenditures – and this time they have a distinct objective in mind. Put simply, the developers are trying to buy their votes.

At stake is the property at 2001 East Dyer Road, which is on Santa Ana’s East side, on the border of Tustin. This land is currently zoned for industrial use but the developers who recently bought this land are requesting that the City of Santa Ana re-zone their (approximately) 18 acre property from industrial to residential development (high density apartments).
