Santa Ana Police Department detectives reopened a 27-year-old case in the hopes of finding the killer who left a woman’s headless body in a dry creek bed, according to ABC News.
They are trying to find the killer and identify the victim, who was found by a man walking his dog at Santiago Park in March 1988, according to the O.C. Register. Continue reading

The City of Santa Ana has received notification that a group of UC Irvine medical students are seeking approval from the State of California to establish a “free needle exchange program” in the French Court Neighborhood for intravenous drug users.

Many of us already knew it but a new study by Wallet Hub has confirmed that Santa Ana is a terrible place to try to start a new business.
Santa Ana was ranked #143 on a list of the top 150 cities in which to start a new business. Santa Ana was ranked just below Anaheim, at #141 and just above Oakland, at #143.

Advisory: SAPD Detectives investigate attempt homicide by estranged husband
The female adult victim arrived home in the early hours of the morning with her two children, 6 and 7 years old, and put them to bed. As she moved to another room in the residence, she was assaulted by her estranged husband, Javier Luis Cervantes (24), who was lying in wait for the victim.
The suspect sexually assaulted the victim and stabbed her multiple times with a knife, causing injuries and severe bleeding. The victim escaped from the apartment and called police. The suspect fled prior to police arriving. Cervantes escaped and stole her 2013 silver Ford Edge, license plate number: 6WPY897. Continue reading

Body Discovered Off Ortega Highway Identified as Missing Woman
CLEVELAND NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. – (April 28, 2015) – The body discovered in a remote area off Ortega Highway in the Cleveland National Forest has been preliminarily identified as Erica Alonso, 28, Laguna Hills; however, confirmation is pending fingerprint and/or dental record comparison. Alonso was a reported missing person since February 15, 2015.
On Monday, April 27, 2015 at approximately 10 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Department was notified after a group of biologist working for Cal-Trans, discovered a decomposed body in a rugged area off Ortega Highway, approximately 12 miles east of Interstate 5. A crime scene was established overnight until homicide and coroner investigators could assemble and begin conducting an investigation. Continue reading

MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR STABBING-MURDER IN FRIEND’S SANTA ANA HOME
SANTA ANA – A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for stabbing and murdering a friend in the victim’s Santa Ana home. Miguel Angel Guerrero, 19, Menifee, is charged with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a knife. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison. The People will request he be held on $1 million bail at his arraignment scheduled today in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.

The SAPD SWAT team took action when a suspected car thief locked himself up in a home near the 1800 block of South Cedar Street, in Santa Ana, today at noon, according to the O.C. Register.
The suspect stayed in the home, which is located just south of Madison Park, until 6 pm when a K-9 police dog was sent into the home. The suspect was then arrested. Continue reading

SANTA ANA – Three businessmen have been charged for defrauding employees by taking their wages on a public works project. Saeed Kenari, 54, Tujunga, is charged with four felony counts of conspiring to take a portion of workers’ wages on a public works project, 34 felony counts of taking workers’ wages on a public works project, 20 felony counts of failure to pay taxes, four felony counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, and 10 felony counts of conspiring to file a false or forged document with a sentencing enhancement allegation for property loss over $200,000. If convicted, Kenari faces a maximum sentence of 56 years and three months in state prison. Kenari is being held on $340,000 bail and was arraigned today. He is scheduled for pre-trial on May 15, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
Co-defendant Rina Arakelian, 62, Glendale, is charged with four felony counts of conspiring to take a portion of workers’ wages on a public works project, 34 felony counts of taking workers’ wages on a public works project, four felony counts of conspiracy to commit a crime, and 10 felony counts of conspiring to file a false or forged document with a sentencing enhancement allegation for property loss over $200,000. Main Street, in Santa Ana.
“Artspiration offers an opportunity to showcase our great student artists and their art.
