Man shot in the stomach near the South Coast Safe Access marijuana dispensary

An unidentified man in his late 40s was shot in the stomach today at about 3:35 p.m. near the South Coast Safe Access marijuana dispensary, located at the 1900 block of East Warner Avenue in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

The wounded man was taken to a local hospital and he is expected to survive. Police do not know how many times the man was shot but reports indicated that multiple shots were fired.

SAPD police officers and an Orange County Sheriff’s Department helicopter were searching for a suspect this afternoon. Continue reading→

L.A. County Sheriff’s deputy arrested for having sex with a 13-year-old girl in Costa Mesa

A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy, Jovanni Argueta, has been arrested for allegedly meeting a girl online when she was 12 and rendezvousing with her over the next year for sexual acts on and off the campus of her Costa Mesa middle school, according to the O.C. Weekly.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department said it assisted the Costa Mesa Police Department with the arrest of 26-year-old Argueta in Whittier on Wednesday, according to ABC News.

Argueta met the Costa Mesa Middle School girl, who is now 13, last year through an online fantasy computer game site. Argueta reportedly performed sexual acts on the girl, and met her numerous times on and off campus, according to the O.C. Register. Continue reading→

Man shot in the face by street racers while driving with his family in Little Saigon

An unidentified man was shot through the cheeks while driving his white Lexus SUV on Sunday night, at around 10 p.m., with is wife and child in the vehicle, at the 11200 block of Westminster Blvd., in Garden Grove, in Little Saigon, according to the O.C. Register.

The man was badly wounded and appears to have been the victim of a possible street racing feud, according to Garden Grove Police.

The told the police that he realized he was injured when he heard gunfire and found that he was bleeding from his face. Continue reading→

LoJack device leads police to a stolen Honda Accord at the MainPlace Mall

A car thief took a gold 1996 Honda Accord today at around 2:45 p.m., from the Target parking lot at the 3300 block of South Bristol St., according to the O.C. Register.

Ordinarily the thief would have probably gotten away with it but not this time. He took a car that was equipped with a LoJack device.

SAPD police officers were able to track the stolen Accord, by following signals emitted by the car’s LoJack device. The signals led them to a parking lot at the Westfield MainPlace Mall. Continue reading→

Can you believe it? The O.C. Register is filing for bankruptcy again – after losing a huge court case and having to pay past due invoices to the tune of over $600K to a printer, according to the OC Weekly.

But there is far more to this story – developer Mike Harrah, who has been scrambling to find tenants for his proposed One Broadway Plaza office tower, is joining Rich Mirman, the CEO and Publisher of the O.C. Register and the Riverside Press-Enterprise in a bid to by the company’s assets.
