A 17-year-old boy was the victim of a drive-by shooting at a Santa Ana bus stop on Friday night, according to the O.C. Register.
The shooting happened at a bus stop on South Fairview Street, just north of West McFadden Ave., at 8:33 p.m. The teen was sitting at the bus stop when he was struck by a bullet fired from a passing vehicle. Continue reading→

Advisory: SAPD Detectives arrest two 16-year-old suspects involved in 7-Eleven robbery series
After releasing information about suspects wanted in the robbery series to the media and public, robbery detectives were provided with information that led them to the identity of both outstanding suspects.
Suspect #3, a 16-year-old Santa Ana resident was located in Santa Ana and arrested by detectives. Suspect #2, a 16-year-old Garden Grove resident turned himself in accompanied by his attorney to detectives at the Santa Ana Police Department. Continue reading→

WESTMINSTER, Calif. – A juvenile gang member was charged as an adult today with attempted murder for shooting a 42-year-old man during an argument. Phillip Nguyen, 15, Garden Grove, is direct filed as an adult and charged with one felony count of attempted murder with willful deliberation and premeditation, and sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a firearm causing great bodily injury and criminal street gang activity. If convicted, Nguyen faces a maximum sentence of 32 years to life in state prison. The People will be requesting the defendant be held on $1 million bail at his scheduled arraignment tomorrow, April 29, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. in Department W-12, West Justice Center, Westminster. The Orange County Registrar of Voters’ Office will be mailing sample ballots to City of Santa Ana registered voters in coming days for the upcoming June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election.
It’s very important to verify how you’re registered – especially in a primary election. Why? Because some parties will not allow No Party Preference (NPP) voters (formally known as “Decline to State”) to vote in their primary election, such as the Republicans, Peace and Freedom and Green parties. Jose Felix Franco, 26, did not learn his lesson after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and got arrested as he ended up driving his car into the store she works at, after he was released from jail, according to the O.C. Register.
Franco headed straight to his ex-girlfriend’s place of employment, Baby & Mom Nutrition, at 119 South Harbor Blvd., in Santa Ana, on Tuesday morning this week just after 9 a.m., according to the SAPD.
Franco’s ex-girlfriend called the SAPD when he arrived, but he took off just before the cops showed up. He went back to the store at about 10:25 a.m. and this time he drove an SUV right through the front entrance of the store, breaking the glass windows and doors. Continue reading→

Runnion, founder and director of The Joyful Child Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child sexual abuse and abduction.
In Memory of Samantha Runnion, this nonprofit organization is dedicated to preventing crimes against children through programs that educate, empower, and unite families and communities. Samantha was kidnapped and murdered in 2002. The City of Santa Ana’s 17th Annual Cinco de Mayo Festival is taking place on Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st. The festivities begin at 12 noon each day on Fourth Street in historic Downtown Santa Ana. This annual tradition celebrates Santa Ana’s vibrant Mexican culture with live entertainment including top level performers each night, delicious food, affordable shopping, interactive art activities, and exciting carnival rides for children of all ages. OCBE Trustee Requests Investigation into Anti-Gay Slurs
COSTA MESA, CA. – David L. Boyd, a Trustee serving on the Orange County Board of Education, will request at the May meeting of the Board a briefing by legal counsel on what constitutes a hostile work environment as well as an investigation into the conduct of another trustee.
This request is a result of an e-mail written by Trustee Robert Hammond in April 2014 to an employee of the Orange County Department of Education where Hammond wrote “I hope you don’t mind, but I plan on asking you about your sexual orientation publicly during our next board meeting.” The email was recently made public as a result of a public records request. Yet another unfortunate Santa Ana pedestrian died on Friday night after being struck by a vehicle at 500 E. 1st Street, at Maple Street, in Santa Ana at about 9:15 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.
The unidentified pedestrian, who was only identified as a male, by the O.C. Coroner, was struck and killed by a vehicle described as a minivan. Continue reading→
Two unidentified men were shot in an alley off of West Myrtle Street in Santa Ana at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, according to the O.C. Register.

CLERK-RECORDER EXPEDITES AVALABILITY OF BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATES TO THE PUBLIC
Orange County Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen would like to announce that his office can now offer certified copies of birth and death certificates to the public 30 days after the life event. Certificates needed within the first 30 days of an event can be obtained from the Health Care Agency.
Previously, copies of birth and death certificates were made available to the public at the Clerk-Recorder Department 60 days or more after an event. Individuals looking to obtain a record any sooner had to visit the Health Care Agency’s Birth and Death Registration location in Santa Ana. Continue reading→
The SAPD is searching for a woman who allegedly ran a red light early Wednesday morning before slamming her car into a man in a crosswalk and then fleeing, according to the O.C. Register.
A woman in a black, four-door BMW with dealer plates was seen by witnesses at around 2:15 a.m. driving north on South Bristol St. before she ran a red light at West Central Ave., while she was in the left lane, according to the SAPD.
As the woman ran the red light she drove into an unidentified 26-year-old man who was walking across Bristol, in the crosswalk. Continue reading→

Arrested: Jose Angel Gutierrez (42) Fountain Valley
On 3-29-2016 at 8:00am, Santa Ana and Garden Grove Robbery Detectives served a search warrant in the City of Fountain Valley at the home of Jose Angel Gutierrez. SAPD Detectives had been working the case along with GGPD Investigators and were able to identify Gutierrez as the suspect in a series of armed robberies that had been occurring at 7-11 stores, small liquor stores and gas stations throughout Orange County dating back to September 2015.
A white Chevy Malibu was seen on surveillance cameras being used as the get-away vehicle in some of the robberies. During the search warrant at the suspect’s residence, detectives located evidence linking the suspect to the crimes as well as a sawed off shotgun, two handguns, and illegal narcotics.
