On October 22, the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) will be hosting a legal fair from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at The Courtyard Transitional Center (also known as the bus transit terminal located across the street from the County Executive Office which is located at 333 W. Santa Ana Blvd., Santa Ana.

Supervisors Consider Additional Ways to Address Homelessness

During a special study session to consider options for addressing the needs of those in Orange County without permanent housing, the Board of Supervisors evaluated how the system of care operates and recommendations for improvement.

“An Assessment of Homeless Services in Orange County” was presented by Susan Price, the County’s new director of care coordination, a position created to better coordinate the County’s response to homelessness. Orange County Reports Season’s First Influenza Case

Free Flu Vaccinations Every Thursday

(Santa Ana, CA) – The Orange County Health Care Agency has confirmed our county’s first confirmed case of influenza signaling that flu season is officially here. Influenza is a seasonal contagious respiratory illness which can be caused by influenza A or B viruses. Flu symptoms may include fever, cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, headaches, body aches, chills and fatigue. Free dental, vision, and medical care clinic set for Oct. 29-30 in Garden Grove

Free dental, vision, and medical care will be provided at the upcoming RAM of California Clinic from October 29 – October 30, 2016 at Concorde Career College, located at 12951 Euclid Street, #101, in Garden Grove.

SANTA ANA, CA – The City of Santa Ana invites you to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Santa Ana Stadium on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at 3:30 p.m.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate the re-opening of the Stadium after extensive renovations of the structure’s concrete surfacing was completed. A car got stuck on a street median in DTSA this afternoon

An car got stuck on the median at N. Spurgeon St. and E. 3rd St. this afternoon in Downtown Santa Ana according to community activist Igmar Rodas. He said that he has heard of two other similar incidents including one that involved a motorcycle that hit the median and spun out of control, ultimately crashing into Diego’s.

This time the driver of the unfortunate vehicle just got stuck on top of the median. The owner told Rodas that he was blinded by the sun as he was turning left from East 3rd St. onto North Spurgeon St. Continue reading→

Is that Roman Reyna parking illegally?

A fellow who looks exactly like Santa Ana City Councilman Roman Reyna illegally parked his silver BMW, license plate #6PQT919, in the fire lane and within 15 feet of a fire hydrant directly in front of Godinez High School, on Sep. 28.

Reyna, who is up for reelection this year, previously served on the SAUSD School Board – and he once worked for the Santa Ana Parks and Recreation Agency. So one would hope that he knows better than to endanger the lives of Santa Ana’s students by parking in fire lanes and blocking fire hydrants in front of our schools. Continue reading→

The absentee ballots were sent to Santa Ana voters this week. So now it is time to vote! This is an important local election as the City Council majority is at stake. Our current City Council majority is trying to fool the voters into giving them a 700% raise via Measure PP. Needless to say we oppose Measure PP. If anything our City Council deserves less of our tax money, not more. Vote No on Measure PP!

There were two more shootings in Santa Ana yesterday

At about 11:30 PM on Friday October 14th an adult male suspect exited his vehicle and shot at an occupied parked vehicle multiple times, at at 200 N. Lacy, in Santa Ana.

The vehicle was struck multiple times and the female and male passengers were not struck, according to SAPD Case Number 16-27216. Continue reading→

I received a call this week from a man who lives in Santa Ana, who said he has known Council Member Vince Sarmiento for many years. The man said his girlfriend used to work at Sarmiento’s nightclub, Festival Hall. And the fellow had quite a tale to tell.

Community: Santa Ana to Start Application Process for the Community Enhancement Program Grant- $500K Available for Nonprofits

The City of Santa Ana announces the availability of $500,000 in Community Enhancement Program Grant (CEPG) funding for nonprofit organizations to support health, human and quality of life services for the residents of Santa Ana through public services including, but not limited to, arts & culture, employment, child care, health, education, energy conservation, or recreational needs.

The City is making great strides in meeting its Strategic Plan Goals, and is calling on nonprofits to assist with the City’s efforts. Proposed CEPG programs must align with a Strategic Plan Goal to be considered for funding. CEPG eligible goals include 1) Community Safety, 2) Youth, Education, Recreation and 3) Community Health, Livability, Engagement & Sustainability. Woman hurt after crashing her motorcycle into a car at Bristol and Santa Clara

An unidentified woman in her 20s ended up at the trauma unit of a local hospital after she crashed her motorcycle into a car on Friday night, at Bristol Street and Santa Clara Ave., in Santa Ana, at 7:45 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The woman’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. She is recovering at UCI Medical Center, in stable condition. Continue reading→
