Jaime Orendain, a 34-year-old Santa Ana High School assistant wrestling coach accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old former student was released from jail Thursday when prosecutors declined to file charges against him, according to MynewsLA.com.
Apparetly the SAPD did not collect sufficient evidence against Orendain and will have to get back to work on building a case before prosecutors will consider filing charges. Continue reading

On Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at approximately 7:00 PM, the Santa Ana Police Department responded to a report of a fight/assault at the skate park located inside Centennial Park. Officers discovered an unresponsive adult male suffering from significant trauma to his face and head. Officers detained and arrested a suspect at the scene. A second suspect fled prior to the arrival of officers. Orange County Fire Authority Paramedics responded and medics transported the victim to a local trauma center where doctors performed life-saving surgery. Santa Ana Unified School District’s Statement on the Arrest of Jaime Orendain
SANTA ANA, CA (August 30, 2017) – Santa Ana Unified School District was notified, August 30, 2017 that Jaime Orendain, an assistant coach of the Santa Ana High School Boys Varsity Wrestling team and an activity supervisor, was arrested and booked for allegations of sexual misconduct with a former student.
These allegations are being taken seriously and are in direct conflict of the District’s zero-tolerance policy relating to staff misconduct, in which all district employees are held at the highest ethical standards. This includes reporting any suspicious activity involving abuse or neglect of a child directly to authorities, as mandated by law. Failure to do so is a criminal violation of the law. At around 7 pm, Santa Ana Police and Rancho Santiago Community College District Public Safety Officers responded to a fight at Centennial Park right next to the skate park – which is also where Godinez Fundamental High School is located.
An unidentified man instigated a fight with several men at the Skate Park. According to witnesses the man appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Continue reading

An unidentified possibly homeless man crossing the street was hit by a vehicle in a possible hit and run and then the victim was struck by another vehicle, on Friday night, according to the O.C. Register.
The victim was crossing the street near the busy commercial intersection of First Street and Harbor Boulevard at about 10 p.m. on Aug. 25 when a vehicle hit the man and the driver fled from the scene, according to the SAPD. Continue reading

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which will be in effect from 10:00 am on Monday, August 28, 2017 to 10:00 pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
Temperatures in most inland Orange County and surrounding mountain communities are expected to reach high temperatures in the 90s on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Temperatures will warm to a range of 95 to 105 degrees on Monday and Tuesday, increasing the risk of heat related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke for those who are more sensitive to heat.
