California EBT cards will be blacked out from June 23 to 24 due to a vendor change

Statewide EBT Outage Scheduled for Saturday, June 23 through Sunday, June 24

Orange County, CA – The state of California is transitioning to a new Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) Vendor on June 30, 2018. Because of this transition, a statewide 24-hour EBT outage and black-out period is scheduled from Saturday, June 23, 2018 beginning at 11 p.m. until Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 11:00 p.m. During this outage, cardholders will not be able to access their EBT food or cash benefits. Board of Supervisors Continues its Momentum to Address Homelessness

  • County directive to expedite 11 housing projects for the $70.5 million MHSA funding allocation
  • Unveiled the Housing Funding Strategy to develop 2,700 housing units
  • Declaration from the County to receive approximately $15.5 million in state Emergency Homelessness Aid Block grants

Santa Ana, Calif. (June 12, 2018) – Today the Orange County Board of Supervisors approved a County directive to expedite 11 housing projects in the pipeline for Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding, unveiled a Housing Funding Strategy to develop 2,700 housing units and paved the way to receive approximately $15.5 million in state Emergency Homelessness Aid Block Grant funding by declaring a Homeless Shelter Crisis.

“Today’s board action represents ongoing progress to leverage state resources to meet local objectives. Our continued goal is to build a system of care, in collaboration with our city partners, that is responsive to the needs of homeless individuals in helping them transition out of homelessness,” said Chairman Andrew Do, First District Supervisor. A Santa Ana man was arrested in Fountain Valley for breaking into cars

On Saturday morning, June 9, 2018, at 4:05 a.m., a resident saw two suspicious subjects possibly breaking into a car in the 18200 block of Santa Arabella Street in Fountain Valley, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department.

Armed robbery suspects led the Garden Grove police on a pursuit that ended in L.A.

Two armed-robbery suspects, Mondher Arredondo, 33, and Angellia Lopez, 24, were arrested Monday morning, June 11, after leading police on a chase from Garden Grove to Los Angeles County, according to the O.C. Register.

The Garden Grove police were contacted at about 12:30 a.m. about an armed robbery near Harbor Blvd. and Quatro Ave. When the officers arrived at the scene they ended up pursuing the suspects as they fled in their vehicle onto the Westbound 22 Freeway then onto the I-405. Continue reading→

Orange County Vows to Fight Plan for Expanded Needle Exchange

Santa Ana, California – After removing 14,000 dirty needles from the Santa Ana Riverbed, Orange County is fighting a proposal to give away more needles to addicts.

The SAPD found a grenade while breaking up a large fight at tonight’s DTSA block party

A bomb scare reported in DTSA’s East End tonight turned out to be an inert grenade, according to the SAPD.

Apparently a large fight broke out at the Block Party, at 4th and French, in DTSA. While SAPD police officers were trying to break up the fight they came across a hand grenade in “close proximity.” Continue reading→
