Okay, say they stop the housing development … where will the money come from within the next 20 years (10 years … 5 years …) to develop this property to a historical/cultural use?
We are fortunate that the historic home has not burned to the ground thus far.
Looks like a good place to put 24 houses.
leave it alone its just fine…….its historical
Admin,
Where do you stand on the homes? Like OBP, building the homes will creat jobs.
Have to ask,
I would prefer to use the site for sports fields. But their is no funding.
Housing should include affordable units.

Cruz – This is an opportunity to improve Santa Ana. Bums and kids hang out in the abandoned grove – vagrants will get into the house and burn it to the ground – how’s that going to help preserve history?
The developer will improve and widen Santa Clara Ave. and put sidewalks on Santa Clara. The grove is an attractive nusance.
I suggest having the developer move the historical home and some orange trees to the Orange County Heritage site in Santa Ana – “win – win.”
Admin,
The City has no mechanism to require that the developer provide affordable homes for this type of development.
Do you suggest that the City enact an ordinance to accomplish that?
If you do – you are discouraging residential development, jobs and economic activity in Santa Ana – is that what you want?
I have lived across the street from that orchard since I was 16. I’m now 35. I have NEVER seen the oranges harvested. In the last year, my parents have reported fires in the field 2 times that I know of. Homeless people sleep in there. I’ve seen teens hanging out smoking in there. It is also overgrown with weeds. Doesn’t look too historical to me. However, I agree that 24 homes is a tight squeeze. I hope their affordable with NO HOA for a gated community.
guess your right mike with that kind of trouble going on there we dont need it I just thought it looked historical by driving by…..if were going to build lets put a hobbyist park there???
something different…….
” 24 homes is a tight squeeze.”
Looks like the same density as the area surrounding it. On both sides of Santa Clara.
