California in Motion: Health and Fitness Fair Kickoff-Senator Correa and O.C. Community Partner for Childhood Obesity Prevention

(SANTA ANA, CA) – In an effort to combat childhood obesity, State Senator Lou Correa (Orange County) is partnering with St. Joseph Health System, Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD), the Illumination Foundation, the American Diabetes Foundation, and Kaiser Permanente for California in Motion: Health and Fitness Fair. The event will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 from 9:00AM to 1:00pm at Valley High School, located at 1801 South Greenville Street Santa Ana, CA 92704.
The passage of Senator Correa’s Senate Concurrent Resolution 77 (SCR 77) declared the last full week of September as Childhood Obesity Prevention and Fitness week in California. This event is the first in a weeklong series of events that promote physical fitness and healthy eating throughout the community. The event will consist of health exams and screenings, fitness activities and health education, local and state resource information, performances, free healthy food, prizes and more. Senator Correa has been working with students, parents, and the local community in this ongoing effort in Orange County.
