SENATOR CORREA BACKS SOLORIO TO REPLACE HIM IN THE 34th SENATE DISTRICT
Santa Ana, CA – State Senator Lou Correa has formally endorsed Jose Solorio as the candidate to replace him in the 34th Senate District. Correa’s endorsement comes as the race for the seat is becoming among the most watched and hotly-contested in California.
“I’m asking you to support and vote for my friend and colleague Jose Solorio. Jose worked tirelessly as a Santa Ana City Council Member and with me in Sacramento as a former State Assembly Member. Together, we fought to protect public safety, education and jobs in Orange County,” Correa said. “Today, Jose is working hard as a Community College Trustee to build new education facilities and to keep our community colleges affordable and accessible.”
Correa added, “Jose Solorio and I were among the moderate Democrats who partnered with Governor Jerry Brown to support business and create new jobs, and reform workers compensation and pensions.”
“Senator Correa is an effective and popular local leader, and I’m proud to have his endorsement. When I was in the State Assembly, we worked together to pass important legislation and brought significant resources to Orange County,” says Solorio. “Now, he’s been a key ally in helping me get the full support of the State Senate’s leadership team and will be an strong campaigner for me.”
The 34th district includes all or parts of the communities of Anaheim, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Los Alamitos, Midway City, Rossmoor, Santa Ana, Seal Beach and Westminster.
Community College Trustee Jose Solorio is the President of the Board of Trustees for the Rancho Santiago Community College District, which oversees Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College, and represents 700,000 residents in the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Irvine, Orange, Santa Ana, Tustin, and Villa Park. Prior to that, he represented the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove and Santa Ana in the State Assembly for six years. He holds a bachelor’s degree from UC Irvine and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University.
