Description
Through monthly meetings featuring authors, professors, activists, candidates, elected officials and leading experts, Women For: Orange County connects with the community to share knowledge and advocate for the common good. Gatherings cover timely topics including peace, human rights, environmental protection, education, the well-being of children and families, civil rights, governmental reform, health care, sustainable development, justice and equal rights for women.
Our Great American Write-In, a unique and inspiring event, is an Orange County tradition. In early spring, this letter-writing jamboree motivates hundreds of citizens to take an active part in democracy by expressing their opinions to legislators and other leaders. Participants select their favorite issues after speaking with representatives from dozens of advocacy groups. Loyal letter-writers have fondly dubbed it “The Conscience of Orange County.”
The oldest feminist event in Orange County, our Suffrage Day Luncheon takes place in late August to commemorate the day women won the right to vote. Members, guests, and elected officials gather for a special lunch to celebrate the courageous struggle for women’s suffrage, after which an awards ceremony is held to honor distinguished local activists for their outstanding contributions to the community and the world at large.
