We have been scrutinizing the public calendars of the Santa Ana City Council Members this week. We already looked at Councilman David Benavides’ calendar, and that of Councilwoman Angie Amezcua. Now we will have a look at Ward 2 Councilwoman Michele Martinez’ calendar:
Michael John Lytle, 30, of Anaheim, a Fullerton firefighter, was among those arrested on suspicion of participating in the Huntington Beach riot over the weekend, authorities said Tuesday. He was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, Fullerton city officials said. He has been placed on administrative leave, according to NBC News.
He was off-duty at the time of the incident but has been placed on paid administrative leave. Lytle was hired as a firefighter by the city of Fullerton on Feb. 11, 2008, according to the City of Fullerton. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA – A woman was sentenced today to 16 months in state prison for sexually assaulting two boys, ages 14 and 16 years old, who played on the hockey team of her teenage relative. Kathia Maria Davis, 46, Laguna Niguel, pleaded guilty June 27, 2013, to four felony counts of lewd acts on a child for John Doe #1. The defendant was previously found guilty by a jury Aug. 9, 2012, of four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse for John Doe #2, and two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for John Doe #2 and Jane Doe #1. That jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict regarding the sex crimes against John Doe #1. In addition to her prison sentence, the defendant is subject to lifetime sex offender registration. SANTA ANA – Thirteen men, who were arrested in an undercover sting operation, pleaded guilty and were sentenced yesterday for soliciting sex or sex acts from an undercover police officer, whom they believed to be a prostitute in an area known for human trafficking. David Arellano, 36; Adan Castillo, 29; Ricardo Diaz, 41; Daniel Lopez, 29; German Lopez, 41; Alberto Napoles, 25; Jose Navarro, 56; Michael Rodriguez, 33; Serafin Romero, 23; Juan Ruiz, 41; Gregorio Sosa, 28; and Fidel Urquiza, 44, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of soliciting another to engage in prostitution. Arellano, Castillo, Lopez, Romero, and Sosa also pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. Each of the defendants were sentenced to three years of informal probation, 10 days in jail with the possibility of CalTrans in lieu of jail, and must submit DNA as well as AIDS testing and education. A suspect was killed by Santa Ana police after a short foot pursuit Tuesday afternoon, according to CBS News.
Authorities responded to a call of a disturbance in a parking lot near McDonald’s at Harbor Boulevard and McFadden Avenue, at the Harbor Place Shopping Center, at about 3 p.m. An officer approached the suspect, which led to a short foot pursuit, according to KABC News. Continue reading→

We reviewed Santa Ana Councilman David Benavides’ official city calendar, for the month of June, 2013, yesterday. Today we are taking a look at Council Woman Angelica “Angie” Amezcua’s city calendar – and boy is it empty. Amezcua represents Ward 3 on the City Council.
While Benavides has spent 90% of his time outside of his Ward, Amezcua has done almost nothing in her own Ward.

Updated: It is a done deal. The members of First Baptist of Santa Ana voted today 42-17 to sell their church to Newsong Church. The Board of Directors of First Baptist will now work out the details with Newsong’s Board of Directors. The deal will total $4 million dollars with $100,000 to be paid up front and the balance to be in the form of a Promissory Note.
According to FBCSA Director Sandy Nalle, First Baptist had perhaps six months to go before becoming insolvent. This deal will ensure that First Baptist will remain a church. Continue reading→
