Based on mosquito trapping counts collected on September 5 and 7, OCMVCD staff has identified high mosquito abundance in areas of Huntington Beach, La Habra, Orange and Santa Ana. The District’s current treatment criteria states that adult mosquito control is initiated when 75 or more female mosquitoes are identified in a mosquito trap per trap night, and all the areas have exceeded the threshold. SANTA ANA, Calif. – TheOrange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) convicted six men in August 2018 of loitering with the intent to commit prostitution or agreeing to engage in prostitution. The defendants in each of these cases approached a woman whom they believed to be a prostitute, or loitered in areas known for prostitution and human trafficking in Orange County. All of the defendants below agreed to engage, or loitered with the intent to engage, in commercial sex with a woman and were subsequently arrested by law enforcement. The OCDA website has been updated with the details of these convictions from last month.

Advisory: SAPD Detectives Investigating Homicide 1000 Block West Richland Avenue
On Thursday, September 06, 2018, at 1:18 AM, Santa Ana police officers responded to reports of a shooting with a subject down in the area of W. Richland Avenue and S. Shelton Street. Responding officers discovered a Hispanic male juvenile down in the street at 1000 Block West Richland Avenue.
The male suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body. Orange County Fire Authority paramedics responded to the scene, evaluated the victim, and declared him deceased at 1:28 AM. Continue reading

Pedro Frias, 21, of Tustin, was arrested today on suspicion of committing a lewd act on an underage girl at park in Tustin on Wednesday, according to the O.C. Register.
Frias tried to expose himself to the girl but she was able to escape following a “brief struggle,” police said in a statement. Once she was out of the restroom, she ran to her father and he called 911, according to KTLA. Continue reading
