Auditions for the spring season of Santa Ana College’s cable television newscasts, Around and About Orange County (AAOC) and Noticiero Latino del Condado de Orange (NLCO), are set for Tuesday, January 25, at 11:00 a.m. News, sports, and entertainment anchors and reporters are being sought. Interested parties must check in at the SAC-TV studios in the Digital Media Center, 1300 S. Bristol., Room 103, Santa Ana on January 25.
No previous broadcasting experience is necessary to try out for the behind-the-scenes crew or on-camera talent for either program seen weekly on Time Warner Cable channels throughout Orange County and on Facebook. Candidates need to be available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. from January through May.
Talent auditioning for NLCO, the nation’s first Spanish-language college-produced news program in the U.S., must be fluent in English. All cast members are required to enroll in SAC’s Television/Video Communications course 130: Principles of Broadcast News. These students will have the option of continuing with advanced courses and earning the program’s certificate.
AAOC is the oldest, continuous cable show in Orange County, in its 27th year while NLCO got its start in 1995. More than 400 alumni have found full-time employment in media-related fields. Among them are comedian Will Ferrell; KTLA-TV weather and traffic reporter Vera Jimenez; and Patricia Martellotti, evening anchor at KSAN-TV, the NBC affiliate in San Angelo, Texas, who left SAC-TV after the fall season.

I was the sports anchor on Around About Orange County back in the late 80’s. This is a first class operation.
Sean,
That must have been fun! Good luck to the next crop of news anchors…
