The votes have not yet been completely tallied but so far it looks like Santa Ana’s voters have decided to raise their own sales and property taxes as Measures X and I are winning easily.
However the architect of Measure X, Sal Tinajero, is getting thoroughly trounced by longtime Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, who has a comfortable 2,000 vote margin. This means the increasingly strident Tinajero is finished as he is now termed off the City Council as well. Continue reading

We are entrusting these candidates to do right by the community.

Community: Early Voting at Vote Centers Available October 26th thru November 5th
Voters will be able to access to several Vote Centers throughout Orange County and a one-day Pop-Up Vote Center in Santa Ana beginning on October 26th. Services will include early in-person voting, ballot drop-off, replacement ballots and other voting services.
Services offered at the Vote Centers:
• Extended and Weekend hours available
• Drive-thru ballot drop-off (at select locations)
• Secure vote-by-mail ballot drop off
• In-person polling place voting
• Replacement ballots

The Resolutions Committee of the Democratic Party of Orange County passed a resolution calling on Santa Ana to restore approval for the Orange County Needle Exchange Program (OCNEP) back in February of this year. And now the Democrats are backing only the Santa Ana City Council candidates who are promoting passing out drug needles in our community.
The City Council candidates who have said, on the record, that they support passing out drug needles in Santa Ana, include Roman Reyna, Ward 4; Nelida Mendoza, Ward 6 and Paul Gonzales, Ward 2. Of those Mendoza and Gonzales are endorsed by the Democratic Party of Orange County – even though there are other Democrats running for the wards in question. (They would have backed Reyna too but he screwed up so much while he was trying to carpetbag in Ward 4 that the Democrats had to take a hard pass). Continue reading
Two campaign mailers arrived in Santa Ana mailboxes today – in a direct hit on the SAUSD’s Measure I – the district’s third property tax increase in 19 years.
One of the mailers addressed the unfairness of Measure I, which will have a huge negative impact on Santa Ana senior citizens and others on fixed incomes, such as the disabled and those who are combating serious illnesses. Continue reading

STATEMENT REGARDING TODD SPITZER DISSEMINATING COURT SEALED MATERIALS AT PRESS CONFERENCE
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – After a court hearing in the People v. Grant Robicheaux and Cerissa Riley case, Todd Spitzer, an attorney, and his Chief of Staff Melanie Eustice, knowingly disseminated a sealed search warrant at a press conference. The search warrant contained extremely sensitive information about the rape victims and the defendants. Former Santa Ana City Councilman Roman Reyna is trying to get back onto the City Council this year. He has moved from Ward 5, which he previously represented, to Ward 4.
As one might expect his detractors don’t want to see him get back onto the City Council. To that end a blistering mailer arrived in our mailboxes yesterday. It reminded voters about Reyna’s past gang connections and then endeavored to explain the intricacies of Reyna’s carpetbagging. Continue reading
One of our readers caught two suspects cutting down Tyler Diep and “O” No! signs on N. Euclid and W. 4th St. They were trying to cut down OC Sheriff candidate Duke Nguyen’s sign down too but they got spooked. A police report has been filed with the SAPD.

I was at an SAUSD school board forum last week and was shocked when some of the boorish radicals in the audience booed when they heard that I got a contribution from the Santa Ana Police Officers Association. Most folks in Santa Ana don’t hate the police. But a small, very vocal minority does. And they are backing a slate of candidates that we need to steer clear of.

Orange County Speeds up Delivery of Non-English Ballots 2-Week Translation Delay Reduced to as Little as 48 Hours
Santa Ana, California – Orange County is making it easier for non-English speaking communities to exercise their right to vote.
This election, the Orange County Registrar of Voters has dramatically improved the delivery times for non-English vote-by-mail ballots, providing Vietnamese, Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Tagalog and Farsi speakers more time to review their election materials. In previous elections, non-English voters waited nearly two weeks longer than English speakers to receive their ballots. Continue reading

The Registrar of Voters Office will begin mailing out the Vote-by-mail ballots starting Tuesday, October 9, 2018. If you are interested in voting my mail, the deadline to complete your application and request a Vote-by-Mail ballot is Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
Any registered voter may vote using a vote-by-mail ballot instead of going to the polls on Election Day. A voter may request a vote-by-mail ballot for a single election or permanent vote-by-mail voter (formerly referred to as absentee ballot). Continue reading

Kim Riker moved her company, Rice Drywall Inc., a 45-year-old family business, to Santa Ana from its longtime home in South El Monte back in 2010. She must surely regret that now! The City of Santa Ana has actually fined her business $800 for the mess left outside their walls by a homeless vagrant, according to the O.C. Register.
This is outrageous! It is obvious that the city workers who issued a fine to Rice Drywall, Inc. are completely worthless and should be fired. This ridiculous action also means that we need to ensure that we get new leadership on the City Council. Fortunately several of the incumbents are termed out. One of them, Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez, was contacted by Riker – and did not bother to respond to her constituent. Continue reading

I want to address the serious claims that have been made against me by a former girlfriend. Griselda and I were in a consensual relationship for about four years. Unfortunately, our relationship was unhealthy for the both of us, and we went our separate ways. While our relationship was unhealthy, I was never physically abusive. I have never in my life laid my hand on a woman in violence. I was far from the perfect boyfriend and I regret and apologize for the harsh words said during emotionally-charged arguments.
