Advisory: UPDATE: SAPD Detectives locate fatal hit and run suspect vehicle

Suspect: Belen Guadalupe Sicair, (22) Santa Ana

Booking Charges: 20001(a) VC-Felony Hit and Run

Summary: On 11/29/15 at approximately 1:43 a.m., officers responded to the scene of a vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run fatal traffic collision at 1200 W. 1st St.
The investigation revealed that a blue obsidian pearl Honda Accord (midnight blue) struck a pedestrian as the pedestrian was crossing 1st St. The Honda fled from the scene westbound on 1st St. without providing identification or rendering aid to the pedestrian. Continue reading→

Driver takes off after high speed police pursuit leads to a crash at Fairview and W. 17th

While some people were making plans to see the new Star Wars movie, a man in his 20’s was leading police officers on a high-speed pursuit on a busy local street in Santa Ana, early on Friday morning, before crashing his car into one drive by a woman, who ended up at a hospital trauma center, according to the O.C. Register.

A CHP patrol officer saw a driver speeding on West Seventeenth Street, near the I-5 Freeway entrance, just past midnight, at 12:15 a.m., on Friday morning. The CHP officer tried to pull over the vehicle, which was described as a Nissan Altima. Continue reading→

19-year-old man struck and killed while running across the 55 Freeway

A 16-year-old driver in a BMW ran into and injured a 19-year-old Costa Mesa man, Missael Espinoza, who was running across the southbound lanes of the 55 Freeway, near 19th Street, just after 10 pm. on Friday, according to the O.C. Register.

The driver, who has not been identified, also resides in Costa Mesa. He was driving a four-door 1998 BMW 328i, when the accident occurred. Continue reading→

22-year-old Santa Ana man dies after crashing into a lamp post in Tustin

Ricardo Salgado, a 22-year-old resident of Santa Ana, died tragically before 1:15 a.m. this morning when he crashed his car into a lamp post near the intersection of Valencia and Red Hill Avenues, in Tustin, according to the O.C. Register.

Salgado was speeding in a Honda before he crashed into the lamp post, according to the police. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tustin Police and the O.C. Fire Authority.

The police do not know what direction that Salgado was heading in before the crash or whether he might have been under the influence. However the police investigators do suspect that speeding was a factor in the accident. Continue reading→

Advisory: Requesting public’s assistance in locating vehicle wanted in fatal hit and run collision

Summary:

On 12/8/15 at 4:36 a.m., an elderly couple was standing at a bus stop on the northwest corner of McFadden Avenue and Center Street in front of the Southwest Senior Center. An eyewitness said a dark colored SUV was eastbound on McFadden, approaching Center. The SUV veered into opposing lanes and onto the north sidewalk, striking the bus bench and the two pedestrians. Van strikes light pole and knocks out power near Harbor and McFadden

A white van crashed at about 12:15 p.m. today near Harbor and McFadden and ended up taking out two signal lights when it went up a light pole.

Jorge Lopez-Lobato killed in hit and run accident at First Street and Baker Street

Jorge Lopez-Lobato, a 35-year-old man, was hit and killed by a speeding, dark blue, newer model Honda Accord early on Sunday morning, just before 1:43 a.m., on First Street near Baker Street, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

The driver fled after striking and killing Lopez-Lobato.

The accident was reported by witnesses who said that Lopez-Lobato was walking westbound on First Street when he was hit by the Honda Accord. Lopez-Lobato died at the scene. Continue reading→

Suspects flee from a hit and run involving a stolen car at Ross and Civic Center

Dog hit by a car saved by a good Samaritan and the Santa Ana School Police

Last night, Santa Ana Unified School District Police Officers were in the area of Dyer and Main Street when they observed a dog get hit by a car. The dog was thrown across the street and into a storm drain.

The Officers immediately responded and with the help of an unidentified Good Samaritan, were able to pull the man hole cover open. An Officer was then able to climb down into the storm drain where he retrieved the injured dog. The dog was transported to an animal hospital for treatment and is expected to survive. 18-year-old motorcyclist in critical condition after crashing into two vehicles

An unidentified 18-year-old man crashed into two vehicles on Tuesday night at around 7:30 p.m. while he was speeding on a 2015 KTM Sport motorcycle, in Costa Mesa, just south of Paularino Elementary School, according to the O.C. Register.

The victim was driving westbound in the right-hand lane of Baker Street, approaching Coolidge Ave. Apparently he was driving too fast when he collided into a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe that was being driven by 81-year-old Costa Mesa resident Gertrude Hall. She was in front the of the motorcyclist, in the same lane, when she began to turn right on Coolidge Avenue. The motorcyclist was not expecting the turn by Hall and he ran right into the side of her SUV. Continue reading→

Bicyclist in bad shape after being struck by a car on W. 17th St. near N. Fairview

An unidentified man in his 30s was badly injured on Monday night, at 7:45 p.m., when he was struck by a car while he was riding a bicycle on West 17th St. somewhere between North Fairview and North King Streets, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

The car’s male driver stayed at the scene of the accident and told police investigators that the bicyclist “came out of nowhere.” The bicyclist was apparently not in a bike lane when the accident occurred. Continue reading→
