An unidentified bicyclist died early this morning, Jan. 12, after being struck by a vehicle in front of South Coast Global Medical Center, according to the O.C. Register.

On Thursday, January 11th at approximately 11:29 p.m., SAPD officers responded to the area of the 1100 block of W 17th Street regarding a hit and run vehicle collision involving a pedestrian, with the pedestrian reported to still be in the roadway. California Highway Patrol officers are searching for the driver of a white sedan who they say fled from a traffic collision that killed two people on the 405 Freeway in Santa Ana on Friday, Jan. 5, according to the O.C. Register.
The accident happened in the evening on Friday, at about 8:30 p.m., on the 405, heading north, just north of Harbor Blvd. A sliver Audi was speeding when it made a lane change and crashed into a Dodge Challenger before crashing into the freeway’s center divider, according to the CHP. John Motesharrei, a 40-year-old Westminster man, pleaded guilty on his birthday Tuesday to a hit-and-run collision that killed Juan Ramirez Garcia, a 48-year-old Santa Ana man who was jogging in Fountain Valley, according to the O.C. Register.
Motesharrei pleaded guilty to hit and run with permanent injury, a felony, and hit and run with property damage, a misdemeanor. Continue reading

Raul Vazquez Jr., 50, of Santa Ana, was killed on Thursday morning when he was struck by a vehicle when he got out of a disabled car on the Garden Grove (22) Freeway, according to the Fountain Valley Patch.
Charlotte Nugent, 68, of Seal Beach, died at UCI Medical Center in Orange at 9:37 a.m. She was driving one of the vehicles that crashed, according to the O.C. Coroner. Continue reading

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) will continue to serve as the statewide traffic safety training agency through its acceptance of two grants from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) for a training and Vertical Prosecution Program. OCDA was given $672,500 for the Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Vertical Prosecution Program and $594,600 for the California Traffic Safety Resource Program Training Network. OCDA has been working in partnership with OTS on Traffic Safety and driving under the influence of drugs (DUID) prosecutions since 2011. Continue reading
David Lee Macmillian, a 54-year-old homeless man, died Thursday evening, Oct. 26, hours after trying to ride his bicycle through opposing vehicle traffic and colliding with a Corvette, according to the O.C. Register.
Macmillian was apparently riding his bike north on the southbound side of Main St., on the sidewalk on Thursday night, at 6:46 p.m. Then he left the sidewalk and tried to cut through traffic, as he was riding his bike northeast near West Columbine Ave. That is when a yellow 2005 Corvette that was heading north on Main collided into him, according to the SAPD. Advisory: SAPD Investigating Fatal Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Collision
Deceased: Johanna Vargas (27) Santa Ana
On 10/24/2017, at approximately 11:22 pm, officers responded to the scene of a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision in the 3600 block of West First Street (near Santa Anita Park). Officers located a 27-year old female pedestrian, Johanna Vargas, suffering from major head trauma as result of the collision. The Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene and transported the victim to UCI medical center to be treated. The victim succumbs to her injuries at the hospital. Continue reading
Fatal Traffic Collision and Officer Involved Shooting
On 10/13/2017 at 11:34 PM, Fountain Valley Police Officers responded to a fatal traffic collision at Magnolia and Mint. While investigating the fatal collision at 5:16 AM, a suspect driving a black Dodge pick-up truck drove at officers and through the fatal traffic collision scene. The suspect turned around and drove at officers a second time, and an officer involved shooting occurred.
The suspect fled the area and was stopped by officers at Bushard, south of Edinger, where he was arrested. No officers were injured and the male suspect was transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Continue reading
