LOS ANGELES SHERIFF’S DEPUTY CONVICTED OF REPEATEDLY ASSAULTING WOMAN, WITH WHOM HE WAS IN A RELATIONSHIP, AFTER SHE DISCOVERED SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER WOMAN

*Defendant also convicted of threatening to kill the victim and the mother of his children

SANTA ANA – A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputy was convicted yesterday of repeatedly assaulting a woman, with whom he had a relationship, after she discovered on Christmas Day that he was sexually involved with another woman. Mark Eric Hibner, 44, Anaheim, was found guilty by a jury yesterday, Oct. 22, 2013, of two felony counts of domestic battery with corporal injury and three felony counts of criminal threats. He faces a maximum sentence of eight years in state prison at his sentencing Nov. 15, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-29, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

At the time of the crimes, Hibner was a 22-year deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was involved in a romantic relationship with Jane Doe #1 for several years. Continue reading→

YOUTH SOCCER REFEREE CONVICTED OF ENGAGING IN ORAL COPULATION WITH UNDERAGE TEENAGE BOY AND COMMITTING LEWD ACTS ON TWO ADDITIONAL BOYS

FULLERTON – A youth soccer referee was convicted yesterday of engaging in oral copulation with a teenage boy and molesting two additional boys. Jorge Diosdado Serafin, 31, Anaheim, pleaded guilty yesterday, Oct. 15, 2013, to three felony counts of oral copulation of a minor under 16 years old, one felony count of lewd act on a child, and one felony count of lewd act on a child under 14 years old. Serafin faces a maximum sentence of 10 years and eight months in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration at his sentencing Nov. 15, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. in Department N-12, North Justice Center, Fullerton.

At the time of the crimes, Serafin was a referee for Oakview Soccer League in Huntington Beach. Continue reading→

Dandre Darnell Atkinson, 27, Lakewood, pleaded guilty yesterday, Sept. 12, 2013, to a court offer of one felony count each of pimping and pandering by procuring. SANTA ANA – A man was convicted today of murdering an 84-year-old woman after breaking into her home and raping, torturing, and stabbing her before stealing her car. Anthony Darnell Wade, 28, Los Angeles, was found guilty by a jury of one felony count of special circumstances murder during the commission of rape, robbery, burglary, and murder with torture, and one felony count each of elder abuse, first degree robbery, first degree residential burglary, torture, forcible rape, and the unlawful taking of a vehicle. SANTA ANA – A man was convicted today of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy after he lured him inside a library bathroom. Robert Howard Claudio, 24, Anaheim Hills, was found guilty by a jury of one felony count of kidnapping for child molesting, four felony counts of lewd acts with a minor under 14, and sentencing enhancement allegations for substantial sexual conduct with a child and increasing the risk of harm by kidnapping. He faces a minimum sentence of 15 years to life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration at his sentencing Nov. 8, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-43, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON FOR SETTING FIRES IN YORBA LINDA AND ANAHEIM

SANTA ANA – A man was charged today with arson for setting fires in Yorba Linda and Anaheim. Gabriel Michael Castillo, 19, Anaheim, (editor’s note: Castillo is the son of an OC Fire Authority Firefighter) is charged with five felony counts each of arson of forest, three felony counts of arson of another’s property, and one felony count of receiving stolen property. If convicted on all counts, Castillo faces a maximum sentence of 13 years and eight months in state prison. The People will request the defendant be held on $100,000 bail at his arraignment today, Aug. 27, 2013, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined. Continue reading→
