New appointee to the O.C. Veterans Advisory Council is from Santa Ana

A vacancy on the Orange County Veterans Advisory Committee has been filled by Marine Corp Veteran Mario Munoz, appointed by Supervisor Andrew Do. Munoz will represent the First District of Orange County on the committee.

Mario Munoz is a post-9/11 Veteran and Orange County native that served in both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He attended Santa Ana High School, Santa Ana College, and California State Dominguez Hills for Ecology and Environmental Science. Continue reading→

The absentee ballots were sent to Santa Ana voters this week. So now it is time to vote! This is an important local election as the City Council majority is at stake. Our current City Council majority is trying to fool the voters into giving them a 700% raise via Measure PP. Needless to say we oppose Measure PP. If anything our City Council deserves less of our tax money, not more. Vote No on Measure PP!

Santa Ana – Parents, students, teachers, Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do and the greater Santa Ana community will come together Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Magnolia Science Academy (MSA) Santa Ana campus—a state-of-the-art facility funded by $17.4 million from the State of California. About 645 students have enrolled in the first K-12 STEAM-focused public school in Santa Ana—115 students more than original expectations—and there is also a waiting list. (Santa Ana, California)— Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do is presenting for public input his ambitious plan to turn an abandoned bus terminal into a homeless shelter — within 30 days.

On Tuesday, the Orange County Board of Supervisors will vote on a $1.4 million contract with Midnight Mission to run a 300-bed homeless shelter with round-the-clock security as well as job training services, permanent housing options, health care, mental health services, substance abuse treatment and veteran assistance services. New Santa Ana Gardens Bikeway

Orange County Supervisor Andrew Do and Orange County Public Works are hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Santa Ana Gardens Bikeway on Saturday, August 20th, 2016 at 9:00 am, to be held in front of the Townsend & Raitt Apartments, located at 821 S. Townsend St, Santa Ana.

The Santa Ana Gardens Bikeway Project will be the first bike path that connects the streets of McFadden and Monte Vista. The bike path will help children in the local community and neighborhood exercise and have a safe path through the park. Continue reading→

(Santa Ana, California)— Orange County’s transportation agency is investing $20 million to expand and improve the county’s bike trails and pedestrian walkways. The biggest winners: residents of Santa Ana, Westminster and Garden Grove.
