Everest College-Santa Ana will partner with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive on Monday, Jan. 27th. The blood drive will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the campus of Everest College (500 West Santa Ana Boulevard in Santa Ana). OCDA ADOPTS 149 CHILDREN FROM 42 FAMILIES IN 15TH ANNUAL ADOPT-A-FAMILY HOLIDAY CELEBRATION
SANTA ANA – Children from 42 families will celebrate the holidays this weekend at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) 15th Annual Adopt-A-Family event. The event will be held tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Monte Vista Elementary School in Santa Ana.
OCDA staff, affiliates, friends, and family have adopted 149 children from 42 families, who were identified as needing assistance during this holiday season by school principals from Diamond Elementary School, Monte Vista Elementary School, and staff from the Santa Ana Corbin Family Center. Each child will receive donated gifts and toys and their families will be provided with grocery gift certificates for a holiday dinner. Continue reading

A great number of our Marines are coming home from overseas right now, many of them injured. Please help us show them our gratitude and support by donating items needed for Christmas baskets. There are a number of local charities and organizations offering free Thanksgiving meals this week in and around Santa Ana. Here is a list of the free meals we were able to identify:
- The Santa Ana Salvation Army Temple will open its doors to offer all in need this holiday season a warm, turkey meal on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at 11 am. They are located at 1710 W. Edinger Avenue, in Santa Ana. Contact: Major Horta- (714) 545-2937.
- 100 Turkeys for FREE! and 5 baskets of food for a Thanksgiving Dinner set for Wednesday, Nov 27, 2013, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at the Anaheim Marketplace Anaheim, located at 1440 s. Anaheim Blvd., in Anaheim. 50 Turkeys will be handed on Monday November 25, 2013 and the other half on Wednesday November 27, 2013. Update on the “Santa Ana Love the Philippines” relief drive
The Santa Ana Love the Philippines” relief drive was a big success – after 6.5 days of preparation and 3 hours of relief drive they collected:
- $1224 of monetary donations (100% wired on November 19 to, Praise Immanuel Christian Ministries, Philippines through Wells Fargo bank). This church will start relief operation on November 25, 2013
- 175 plus canned foods, 402 lbs rice, 92 gal of water, 25 can openers, 15 blankets. (shippied for free on November 18 through LBC shipping) Continue reading

AT-RISK YOUTH EARN 851 TURKEY DINNERS IN 4TH ANNUAL THANKSGIVING GANG PREVENTION INCENTIVE
SANTA ANA – Turkey dinners will be awarded tomorrow to 851 at-risk students who succeeded in Orange County Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership’s (OC GRIP) 4th annual Thanksgiving challenge to improve their attendance, behavior, and grades in time for Thanksgiving.
Ralphs/Food 4 Less and Saddleback Church donated double the number of turkey dinners, over 850 this year compared to 400 in years past, as part of the ongoing OC GRIP gang prevention effort to keep kids in school and out of gangs. The total donation is valued at over $25,000. OC GRIP extended the incentive to twice as many students at 43 schools this year compared to the previously-participating 23 schools. Continue reading
