Charitable Holiday Events in Orange County
Thanksgiving affords our nation an opportunity to come together, celebrate and give thanks. In this spirit, community advocates gather annually to spread Thanksgiving cheer and ensure all individuals have an opportunity to enjoy the holiday. This year churches, restaurants and rescue missions throughout Orange County will be providing nutritious meals and shelter. The Center OC Invites you to join us for a day of beautifying our space, collaborative arts and crafts, community history sharing, music, food, and FUN, at their Open House and Mural Party, on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 12 noon to 6 pm.
A Thanksgiving Outreach event for the needy is set for today, Saturday Nov. 17, from 12-3 pm at 4th Street Plaza (at 4th and N. French St.) in downtown Santa Ana. Event sponsors include Hands of Hope, the City of Santa Ana, and various churches.
Theywill give away $25 gift cards, shoes, and have carnival games and music. Volunteers are needed for crowd control, prayer partners, face painters, and help with the carnival booths. If you would like to volunteer you may show up as early as 8 am. Continue reading
Aliso Viejo-based community management company, Seabreeze Management, participated in a Habitat for Humanity “Build Day” on Friday, Nov. 2. Fifteen staff members spent eight hours volunteering to help build homes located in one of Habitat OC’s neighborhoods in Santa Ana.

Santiago Canyon College Awarded $1.25 Million Upward Bound Math and Science Grant
O.C. College Benefits from a Trio of Grants to Boost STEM Programs
(Santa Ana)— Santiago Canyon College (SCC) recently got news that it was selected by the U.S. Department of Education to receive $250,000 annually in a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education for its Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) program. The funds will help prepare high school students for post-secondary education programs that lead to careers in the fields of math and science. The program will make it possible for 62 students in Orange Unified School District to participate in a cohort model in which a group of students moves through all classes and phases of the program together.
