Get a $5 Habit Burger Grill combo and help feed needy kids on 9/18 at the O.C. Register

On Sept. 18, 2015 a food truck operated by Irvine-based Habit Burger Grill will be offering a $5 meal special to benefit the nonprofit Share Our Strength. The Habit Truck will set up in the visitor parking lot of The Orange County Register from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving $5 combo meals that include a charburger with cheese, fries and a drink. Other entree options will include a gluten-free lettuce wrap and veggie burger, according to the O.C. Register.

Habit officials said 100 percent of all funds will go to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign, a nationwide effort to wipe out childhood hunger in the United States by educating families on how to cook healthy, affordable meals at home. Continue reading→

From Sept. 15-16, CPK will donate twenty percent of net sales (dine in, takeout, beverages, catering) across its 44 Southern California locations to the nonprofit organization. Kermes fundraiser to help pay for a young woman’s funeral set for 9/12 at Centennial Park

Gennieve Marie Rankin, 25-years-old, passed away last Friday in a tragic car accident. She leaves behind her husband, Santiago “El Chago” Duran and a 4-year-old daughter and funeral bills that her family cannot contend with by themselves.

Her family is hosting a Kermes this Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Centennial Park in Santa Ana, located at 3000 W. Edinger Ave., starting at 10 a.m., to raise funds to help pay for her funeral.

Mayor Miguel Pulido will recognize the OC Marathon Foundation Board of Directors for their outstanding service to the City of Santa Ana at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.

Thanks to the work of the OC Marathon Foundation Board, more than 105,000 race finishers have experienced the beauty of Orange County since 2004. This includes participants from 22 countries and 46 states in 2015 with over 15,000 registrants for the full, half, and 5K races. Tickets to this year’s exclusive black-tie gala under the stars are $250 each or $2,500 for a private table of 10. MOMS ORANGE COUNTY RECOGNIZES MOTHERS WHO COMMIT TO BREASTFEEDING SUCCESS

Santa Ana, Calif. (August 11, 2015) – More than 40 mothers who successfully completed breastfeeding education programming and support groups through MOMS Orange County, a nonprofit organization serving low-income pregnant women for more than 22 years, were recognized for their efforts and dedication at the MOMS Orange County Breastfeeding Recognition Luncheon on Friday, August 7, 2015. The recognition event, held during World Breastfeeding Week at MOMS Orange County in Santa Ana, emphasized the importance of breastfeeding for both baby and mother, and featured opportunity drawings, giveaways and a luncheon.

Breastfeeding education and support is an integral component of MOMS Orange County’s curriculum. The organization is not only educating mothers but also provides the often-missing support system they require to breastfeed with confidence. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. (July 28, 2015)– MOMS Orange County, a nonprofit organization serving low-income pregnant women for more than 22 years, is proud to announce the appointment of Yorba Linda resident Ron DiLuigi as the new MOMS Orange County Board of Directors president.

DiLuigi is the former vice president and chief advocacy officer for St. Joseph Health, headquartered in Irvine. He retired in July 2015. In this capacity, he was the lead executive in St. Joseph Health’s fifteen-hospital system, in the areas of advocacy, public policy and government relations. Prior to this, DiLuigi held executive positions during a 27-year career in government, most recently as director of the Orange County Health Care Agency. He is a MOMS Orange County founding board member and has served the organization for 14 years. Continue reading→

Brea, Calif. (August 3, 2015) – Southlands Church in Brea, the newest faith-based member of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF), which is administrated by nonprofit Community Service Programs (CSP), hosted FREE OC, a sold-out dinner and auction fundraiser for OCHTTF on August 1, 2015 that raised $15,000 to support survivors and help restore dignity to those rescued from sex and labor trafficking in Orange County. In addition to helping bring hope and freedom to survivors, proceeds from FREE OC kick started Rising Above, a new OCHTTF scholarship fund.

The OCHTTF is a virtual organization of multiple agencies organized to stop human trafficking, also called modern-day slavery, in Orange County. These human rights violations occur in the forms of commercial sex (sex trafficking) and forced labor, such as domestic servitude, factory or agricultural work. Since 2004, OCHTTF has assisted more than 450 victims of human trafficking from 36 countries. Continue reading→

Thousands Will Walk In Orange County To Honor Children Lost to Stillbirth, Infant Death, and Pregnancy Loss

TUSTIN – More than 4,000 people will gather at the 11th Annual OC Walk to Remember to Remember, a Forever Footprints event, sponsored by VIaSat. It celebrates the lives of babies that have died. The 5K Run, The Memorial Service, Walk and Celebration of Angels event will be held on Saturday, October 10, at The District at Tustin Legacy from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Nearly 5,400 babies will die today in the United States, and one in four Orange County women will experience miscarriage, stillbirth, SIDS, pregnancy loss and infant death. Continue reading→
