Advisory: Detectives Seeking Media and Public’s Assistance Identifying Suspect Responsible For A Series Of Sexual Assaults

The Santa Ana Police Department is seeking the media and public’s help identifying the person responsible for committing a series of sexual assaults. One assault occurred in August 2015, and two additional assaults occurred in January 2016.

Each of the assaults occurred on Harbor Boulevard near Hazard in Santa Ana and each involved victims who admitted to being prostitutes. In each case, the suspect approached the victim and claimed to be an undercover officer. After coaxing each victim into his vehicle, the suspect drove the victims to secluded locations where he sexually assaulted them. Continue reading→

Santa Ana teen found shot to death in Santa Fe Springs

Bad enough that so many of Santa Ana’s young people are getting shot in our city, now Arturo Morelos, a 17-year-old resident of our city has been found shot to death in Santa Fe Springs, along a set of railroad tracks, according to the O.C. Register.

A worker at a nearby business called police about 8:30 a.m. to report a “man down” along a set of side tracks servicing businesses near the 13700 block of Carmenita Road, according to the Whittier Daily News. Continue reading→

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A woman was convicted and sentenced yesterday, June 1, 2016, for fraudulently collecting over $10,000 in welfare benefits for a child who was no longer in her custody or care. Carolina Acosta Moreno, 36, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty to one felony count of aid by misrepresentation over $950. Moreno was sentenced to one year and four months in jail and ordered to pay restitution. Continue reading→

Four arrested after parolee barricaded himself inside a Santa Ana home

Barricaded man finally arrested at 2 a.m. this morning by the SAPD’s SWAT team

The unidentified man who barricaded himself at a home in Santa Ana, at the 2200 block of South Oak St., last night, was finally arrested early this morning after an SAPD SWAT team used tear gas and a flash-bang grenade to subdue the suspect, according to MyNewsLA.

The standoff started at about 6 p.m. on Memorial Day when SAPD police officers patrolling the area noticed the suspect allegedly carrying a weapon. He ran into the residence in question at that point, according to the SAPD. Continue reading→

Two men shot during a fight at the Santa Ana Cemetery

Who goes to a cemetery to drink beer and get into fights? On Memorial Day weekend? Apparently that is a thing here in Santa Ana. Two people were hurt today when a fight broke out among five men at Santa Ana Cemetery, according to the O.C. Register.

One of the men was shot in his upper torso and another was shot in his lower torso, according to the SAPD.

Fatal Santa Ana hit and run driver caught after changing her appearance

A Santa Ana woman accused by the SAPD of hitting and killing a 26-year-old Santa Ana man, Christopher Chavez, when he was walking in a crosswalk at Bristol Street and Central Ave. on April 20 at around 2:15 a.m., has been arrested, according to the O.C. Register.

Tracy Clapp, 36, was arrested on Saturday night after she was involved in a police pursuit, in a stolen car, and got into a fight with the police officers.

Clapp allegedly got out of her car after the accident on April 20, and saw that Chavez was injured. But she did not stop to help him. Instead she took off and has been wanted by the police ever since. Continue reading→

GANG MEMBER SENTENCED TO 50 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR SHOOTING MURDER OF FELLOW GANG MEMBER AND TAKING VICTIM’S BIKE TO FLEE THE SCENE

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A criminal street gang member was sentenced today to 50 years to life in state prison for the shooting murder of a fellow gang member and taking the victim’s bike to flee the scene. Daniel Alvarez, 22, Orange, was found guilty by a jury on Sept. 23, 2015, of one felony count of murder and one felony count of possession of a firearm by a probationer with a sentencing enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death.

At the time of the crime, Alvarez and the victim, 18-year-old Bruno Ugalde, were members of the same criminal street gang. Alvarez was on formal probation. Continue reading→

The latest crime data shows that Santa Ana is the most dangerous city in Orange County

A law firm has used the latest crime data from the FBI to find out which cities in California with a population of 100,000 or greater are the most dangerous in the state and the news for Santa Ana residents is not good. Our city is the most dangerous big city in Orange County.

Santa Ana’s crime ranking was #26 in the state. Anaheim was ranked #31. Costa Mesa was ranked #37. Garden Grove was ranked #47. Fullerton was ranked #45. Huntington Beach was ranked #48. Orange was ranked #65 and Irvine was ranked #68. Continue reading→

Family lost everything when their Uhaul truck was stolen at a Santa Ana hotel

The Beaumont family was moving from California to Arizona but when they spent the night at the La Quinta Inn in Santa Ana, on Sunday, May 22, their U-Haul truck, containing all their belongings was stolen, according to ABC News.

On 5/24/16, at approximately 7:50 p.m., officers responded to the area of 5th Street and Mountain View regarding a female suspect armed with a knife, attempting to stab a male victim. Woman shot by the SAPD after allegedly stabbing three men and taking off on a bike

As we reported on our Facebook page tonight, a woman in her 20’s was shot by the SAPD after she allegedly stabbed two people and fled on her bike.

The shooting happened at around 8 p.m., when the SAPD made contact with the suspect at the 3300 block of West Fifth Street, according to the O.C. Register.

The suspect stabbed the owner of a vehicle during an attempt to carjack the vehicle at the corner of W. 5th and New Hope Streets, according to CBS News. Continue reading→
