There was a traffic collision at 400 W. Civic Center Dr., at Ross, involving two vehicles, at around 6 p.m., according to local photographer Igmar Rodas.

Did the burglars feel guilty over the Thanksgiving holiday? We may never know but what we do know is that the wheelchair stolen from the back patio of four-year-old Milagros has been returned to her family’s Santa Ana home, at the 400 block of South Flower Street, according to the OC Register.
The wheelchair was returned, clean and in a plastic bag, sometime on early Friday morning. Milagros’ dad found it when he returned from delivering newspapers in the morning. Continue reading

CALIFORNIANS PREPARE TO RISE TO THE HOLIDAY TRAFFIC SAFETY CHALLENGE
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – This Thanksgiving, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is partnering with law enforcement agencies across the nation for the third annual “Interstate 40 Challenge.” The goal of the traffic safety campaign is zero fatalities during the holiday travel period on the more than 2,500-mile stretch of I-40.
“Last year, California reported zero fatal traffic collisions on Interstate 40 during the challenge periods,” CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow said. “With the public’s assistance, we are striving to achieve the same success rate this year on I-40 and throughout the state.” Continue reading
Someone stole a special wheelchair belonging to a four-year-old girl, right from her family’s back patio, at the 400 block of South Flower Street, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
The little girl, named Milagros, was born without legs among several other medical issues and wasn’t expected to survive – but somehow she did.
The wheelchair was stolen early last Saturday morning and was reported to the SAPD on Tuesday night. The family tried to find the wheelchair but was unable to do so. Continue reading

Advisory: Santa Ana Police Seek Public’s Assistance in Identifying Robbery & Carjacking Suspects
On 10/24/15, Victims 1 and 2 were standing near the “Redbox” machine in the 7-11 parking lot at 2745 W. McFadden. Three suspects exited the suspect vehicle and robbed the victims of their property, including victim 1’s car keys. All three suspects fled in the suspect vehicle with the victims’ property.
Minutes later, suspect 1 returned with the car keys, entered the victim’s black 1998 Acura Integra (which was parked in the 7-11 parking lot) and drove away in the vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was located later in the area of 3200 W. 5th Street. No weapons seen; only simulated. Continue reading
Starbucks at 3345 South Bristol in Santa Ana
A man his early 50s died this afternoon just before 1 p.m. after being struck in the head with a skateboard by a a man in his 20s just outside a Starbucks at 3345 South Bristol Street, just north of MacArthur Blvd., in Santa Ana on Tuesday, according to the O.C. Register.
The older man was allegedly “bugging people” in the shopping complex when he went into the Starbucks and began to harass the younger man, according to a witness identified only as “Geovanni.”
The two men argued and at some point the situation became physical and the younger man ended up hitting the older man in the head with his skateboard, outside of the coffee shop. Continue reading

Advisory: SAPD Detectives investigating sexual assault at a school
On 11/20/15, a female student attending Santiago Elementary, 2212 N. Baker, Santa Ana, reported to her mother that a sexual assault occurred in the school bathroom immediately after school.
The victim later told police that when she was excused for the day from class, at about 2:23 PM, she walked to a campus bathroom. While in the girl’s bathroom, an adult male, unknown to the victim, entered and sexually assaulted her.
Santa Ana Police Detectives have been in contact with Santa Ana Unified School District administrators, and teachers and supervisors who work at Santiago Elementary School. So far in the investigation, no employees recognize the male’s description as reported by the victim. Continue reading
The Santa Ana City Council on Tuesday unanimously directed staff to update the city’s Second Dwelling Unit Ordinance, which only allows modest-sized granny flats – between 300 square feet and 750 square feet or 30 percent of the size of the primary dwelling on the parcel, whichever is less, according to the O.C. Register.
What this means is that zoning regulations will be revised and residents may be allowed to build much larger add-ons that might include amenities like bathrooms and kitchens.
But is this a good idea? Dramatically increasing housing density at a time that crie is out of control doesn’t make much sense to us. Continue reading
There are two gas stations at the corner of Grand Ave. and Santa Clara, in Santa Ana. One of them was robbed early Saturday morning, at 3:16 a.m., according to the O.C. Register.
The SAPD received a call after a man walked into the gas station mini-mart with a handgun and demanded cash from the cash register. The mini mart clerk gave the robber an unknown amount of cash and the suspect ran out of the store and fled in a white sedan that was driven by a woman.
The strange part of this story is that neither of the gas stations at the intersection in question are generally open that late. But they are both popular as their gas prices are the cheapest in north Santa Ana. Continue reading
Irvin Tellez
Gangbanger Irvin “Irv” Tellez, 27, will be spending the rest of his life in prison, after killing Nancy Hammour in 2014 and trying to kill another Santa Ana woman as well, according to the O.C. Register.
Tellez was sentenced on Friday to 102 years to life in prison. The former champion handball player will never set foot in a public park again. Continue reading

The SAPD raided the Euphora Spa, on South Bristol Street, in Santa Ana on Thursday night along with a reporter according to ABC7.
ABC7 was granted an exclusive ride-along by the SAPD to film their sting operation at Euphora Spa after the SAPD received complaints from neighbors who suspected that the Spa was in fact offering prostitution along with massages.
The police investigators found a sex-related advertisement on the website, backpage.com. So they sent an undercover police officer to the Euphora Spa to see if in fact they were engaging in prostitution. Continue reading

A 52-year-old man was found today at 1:33 p.m., on the front porch of a home that isn’t his, with a gunshot wound to his upper torso, according to the O.C. Register.
The incident happened at the 5600 block of West Highland Street, in Santa Ana, near La Quinta High School and Thomas Paine Elementary School.
The victim was found by a man who was visiting the home in question. The victim was taken to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he is in critical condition. Continue reading

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officer is scheduled to face trial tomorrow on charges of attempting to commit a lewd act with a 12-year-old girl and indecent exposure to five female victims in Huntington Beach. Ryan Eric Galliher, 33, Huntington Beach, is charged with one felony count of attempted lewd act upon a child under 14 years old, one felony count of contacting a minor with the intent to commit a lewd act, six misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, and one misdemeanor count of engaging in lewd conduct. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of four years in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration.
