On 10/17/13, Santa Ana Police Officers were dispatched to Carr Intermediate to investigate a possible child molestation. The investigation revealed that the now 13-year-old Jane Doe had been “friended” through Facebook by a 42-year-old male when she was age 12. The suspect identified as Manuel Arevalo Parada (Santa Ana) communicated with the victim on Facebook until four months ago. At that time the suspect arranged to discreetly meet with the victim on multiple occasions and engaged in lewd conduct with her over a 3-4 month period. Continue reading→

Orange County Sheriff’s Department Receives Grant for County-Wide DUI Enforcement Campaign
SANTA ANA, CA – (October 18, 2013) – Drunk and drugged driving remains the number one killer on our roadways with 774 deaths and over 24,000 injuries. The “Avoid the 13” DUI Task Force will be combating this deadly problem through DUI enforcement efforts in Orange County. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department will be administering a recent $114,232 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety to cover DUI enforcement operations within the department’s 13 contract cities. PRESS RELEASE: Oct 17, 2013
On 7-11-13 the Fountain Valley Police Department arrested Scott Ruvolo, 56 years of age from Victorville, after he was attempting to record women changing in the dressing room at the Salvation Army thrift store located at 16119 Brookhurst in Fountain Valley.
A search of Ruvolo’s cell phone revealed he recorded two additional unidentified female victims undressing at the same store just prior to his arrest. Other video footage indicates Ruvolo had his cell phone clipped to his belt and recorded women while walking around unknown Target stores and Starbucks. This occurred between June of 2013 to July of 2013. Continue reading→

For Immediate Release, Case # 13NF9292: October 16, 2013
FULLERTON – A youth soccer referee was convicted yesterday of engaging in oral copulation with a teenage boy and molesting two additional boys. Jorge Diosdado Serafin, 31, Anaheim, pleaded guilty yesterday, Oct. 15, 2013, to three felony counts of oral copulation of a minor under 16 years old, one felony count of lewd act on a child, and one felony count of lewd act on a child under 14 years old. Serafin faces a maximum sentence of 10 years and eight months in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration at his sentencing Nov. 15, 2013, at 8:00 a.m. in Department N-12, North Justice Center, Fullerton.
At the time of the crimes, Serafin was a referee for Oakview Soccer League in Huntington Beach. Continue reading→

SERIAL MYSPACE RAPIST SENTENCED TO 24 YEARS IN STATE PRISON
FULLERTON – A Yorba Linda man was sentenced Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, to 24 years in state prison for raping three women, two of whom he met on MySpace. The defendant was previously convicted after pleading guilty in the case but later withdrew his plea. Jason Ara Erpinar, 24, was convicted for the second time Aug. 30, 2012, by a jury of two felony counts of rape by intoxication and one felony count of forcible rape. The defendant was also sentenced to mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. Continue reading→

A Garden Grove man, Sinh Vinh Ngo Nguyen, was charged Friday with trying to support Al Qaeda and making false statements on his passport, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office in Los Angeles, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
Twenty-four-year-old Sinh Vinh Ngo Nguyen of Garden Grove, also known as Hasan Abu Omar Ghannoum, was stopped at a bus station in Santa Ana, Calif. at 7:30 a.m. by members of the Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force and arrested on suspicion of providing material support to al Qaeda, according to NBC.
Nguyen, also known as “Hasan Abu Omar Ghannoum”, was about to board a bus for Mexico at the time of his arrest, Laura Eimiller of the FBI said, according to CBS. Continue reading→
