FULLERTON – A father caught on a hidden video camera was sentenced today to 13 years to life in state prison for attempting to murder his 2-month-old son by swinging him by the neck with a noose-like blanket and repeatedly punching, strangling, and shaking the baby. Joshua Allen Robey, 26, Costa Mesa, was found guilty by a jury Aug. 19, 2013, of one felony count each of attempted murder with premeditation and deliberation, torture, and child abuse with a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury to a child under 5 years old. Jose Ortiz & Ryan Irwin Tischer released from OC Jail 09-25-2013 around 7:20pm befriended one another … they stole a 1994 Ford van together in the 1000 block of W. 2nd street… they return back to the area between the OC Sheriffs dept and SAPD in the stolen van where they enter the public parking structure and break into a SAPD jailer’s vehicle … they stole items from his vehicle. Meanwhile, at approximately 0010 this morning 9-26-2013 an off duty SAPD officer (in plain clothes) walks towards the parking structure from the police department while talking on his phone to police department communications. Pre-dawn raids at about 75 locations throughout the county Tuesday were the culmination of a multi-agency investigation called “Operation Smokin’ Aces” taking aim at the Mexican Mafia, a notorious prison gang known for its grip on local street gangs, particularly in Santa Ana, authorities said, according to the O.C. Register.
Authorities said it involved dozens of arrests and search warrants that were served throughout Santa Ana neighborhoods. More than 800 officers, deputies and agents of the Santa Ana police; Orange County Sheriff’s Department; FBI; Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and U.S. Marshals took part in the investigation and the arrest warrants that were served before sunrise. The Santa Ana City Council has agreed to pay $275,000 to a Santa Ana resident who contended in a claim that he had been mauled by a police dog, according to the O.C. Register.
Apparently Santa Ana police officers thought they were sending the dog into a house on West First Street to get ayoung suspected felon named Reuben, at 3:35 am on June 6, 2012. But the dog attacked 50-year old Higinio Hernandez instead.
Here’s the best part of this mess – the city, said Assistant City Attorney Laura A. Rossini, “did not acknowledge any liability for the city and/or any employees for this matter as a result of the settlement.” Continue reading→

Escapee from Musick Facility In Custody
IRVINE, California – (September 21, 2013) – On Friday, September 20, 2013 inmate Max Fernandez, 27, escaped from the James A. Musick Facility. An investigation immediately ensued and efforts to locate Fernandez were initiated.

Jail Escapee Notice
DETAILS:
IRVINE, California – (September 21, 2013) – On Friday, September 20, at approximately 4:00 p.m. inmate Max Edward Fernandez (DOB: 8-27-1986) was confirmed missing during a security check at the James A. Musick Facility.
The investigation is ongoing as to how Fernandez escaped the facility. Fernandez was in custody for possession of stolen property and a narcotics violation. He has a criminal history of thefts, burglaries, narcotic violations, auto theft and resisting arrest.
