Family and friends gathered at the airport Friday night to welcome home a Santa Ana Valley High School schoolteacher, Maricela Gonzales, and her two sons Friday night, more than a year after the boys were allegedly abducted by their father, James Gonzales, a former school SAUSD principal, according to CBS News.
The two boys, who were missing for a year, are known by Maricela as Pablito and R.J. They were allegedly kidnapped during a custody dispute by their father, who remains in custody in Colorado for multiple alleged crimes. Continue reading→
UPDATE: Santa Ana detectives have arrested the mother of two children found dead in a hotel room Saturday. She is from Arizona, according to CBS News.
A 42-year-old woman whose last known residence was in San Jose intentionally crashed her car behind a Costa Mesa store, and then said something that led the police to investigate a Santa Ana hotel room, where two children were found dead inside, police said Saturday. Police have not disclosed the relationship between the woman and children or how they died, according to the O.C. Register.
As paramedics were preparing to take the injured woman to a hospital, “she made some statements that indicated a crime might have occurred” in Santa Ana, Costa Mesa Sgt. Tim Starn said, according to the AP. Continue reading→

Indecent Exposure & Child Annoyance Person of Interest
MISSION VIEJO, California – (September 13, 2012) – On Friday, September 13 at approximately 3:15 p.m., the Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of indecent exposure and child annoyance near the intersection of Via Pera and Los Alisos. The victim, a 12-year-old female, reported that while she was walking home from school she saw a male suspect jump out from behind some bushes and expose his penis.

SANTA ANA – A pimp was sentenced to four years in state prison yesterday for pimping and pandering a woman he met through an Internet chat site. Dandre Darnell Atkinson, 27, Lakewood, pleaded guilty yesterday, Sept. 12, 2013, to a court offer of one felony count each of pimping and pandering by procuring. Tariq Ibrahim Musa, 33, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty today to one felony count each of kidnapping, false imprisonment, grand theft person, and being in receipt of stolen property.

WESTMINSTER – A woman will be arraigned tomorrow for driving under the influence of alcohol and losing control of her sport utility vehicle (SUV) that killed one passenger and left another passenger with major injuries. Shauna Nalani Ahyen,22, Wailuku, Hawaii, is charged with one felony count each of vehicular manslaughter by lawful act that might cause deathwith gross negligence while intoxicated, driving under the influence causing bodily injury, driving with a blood alcoholcontent of .08 percent or more causing bodily injury with a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury. Ifconvicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 13 years and eight months in state prison. Detectives have placed Jose Miguel Avalos, 27 of Santa Ana, in custody for homicide. Avalos was booked into Santa Ana Police Department Jail. Autopsy scheduled for tomorrow 9-12-13. At approximately 7:40 p.m. on Friday, September 6, Newport Beach Police Detectives arrested Jaime Rocha in connection with the murder of Nancy Hammour. Rocha has been charged with one felony count of murder and faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison if convicted, according to the OCDA. He is being held on $1 million bail. Rocha is accused of murdering Nancy Hammour on Sept. 2, 2013. The ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Newport Beach Police Department.
On Monday, September 2 at approximately 8:45 a.m., the Newport Beach Police Department responded to a call of a woman lying face down underneath the Bay Bridge, near the intersection of East Coast Highway and Bayside Drive.
