Advisory: Update: Detectives Arrest Female Wanted In McDonald’s Assault Case,
Arrested: Mayra Berenice Gallo (24) Santa Ana
On 10-13-2018 SAPD released information/video requesting the media and community’s assistance in identifying a female suspect wanted in an assault that occurred on 10/27/18 at approximately 11:00 PM, at the McDonalds located in the 1500 Block of North Bristol Street.
After doing the story with numerous media outlets, Detectives received numerous tips leading them to the identity and location of the suspect wanted in this assault. Based on the information provided Detectives were able to obtain a $15,000 arrest warrant for suspect, Mayra Berenice Gallo (24) of Santa Ana. Continue reading

Claudia Hernandez, 35, pleaded guilty Monday and was immediately sentenced to four years in prison for trying to kidnap Amy Martinez, a 12-year-old girl, as she was walking to school in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
Hernandez, who was previously identified as Claudia Hernandez-Diaz, pleaded guilty to two felony charges – attempted kidnapping of a child younger than 14 and child stealing. Continue reading

John William Zelinski, a 63-year-old man, was sentenced Wednesday to only three years behind bars for fatally stabbing a homeless man in Santa Ana in 1984, according to the O.C. Register.
Zelinski had to be extradited from Arizona. He was charged with the May 18, 1984, cold case murder of Roy Thomas Emming, a homeless man in Santa Ana, at the 2000 block of Walnut Street. Continue reading

An unidentified man was wounded while riding a bicycle, early on Tuesday morning, Nov. 20, just past midnight, at Cedar St. and Edinger Ave., just south of Madison Park, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

Matthew Jacob Granados, a 24-year-old man, was sentenced to nine years in prison for a baseball-bat assault that happened shortly after he was released from behind bars jail for manslaughter last year and also for an earlier scuffle with police, according to the O.C. Register.
Granados accidentally shot and killed a 16-year-old friend of his, Alex Ramirez, back in 2016. At the time Granados fled but he eventually turned himself into the police. Continue reading

The Newport Beach Police Department is seeking a suspect and any possible witnesses for an attempted bank robbery investigation. The crime occurred on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at approximately 1:35 p.m. at the Bank of America in Eastbluff Village Center (2501 Eastbluff Drive).
According to statements received by the NBPD, one male entered the bank with a grey Bank of America money bag. The suspect then approached a bank teller and presented what appeared to be a business check. The check had a hand written note on the back stating, “This is a robbery, I have a gun.” The teller had difficulty opening the money drawer, at which point the suspect stated, “Hurry up, you have 10 seconds.” The suspect then raised his voice and once again told the teller to hurry up, which caught the attention of the bank manager who then walked towards the suspect. The suspect then walked out of the bank with no money, and appeared to get into a white truck being driven by an additional unknown suspect. Continue reading

Man arrested for possession of explosives in Tustin
TUSTIN, Ca. (November 15, 2018) – A man was arrested at his residence in unincorporated Tustin on Wednesday for possessing explosive devices, fireworks and a large amount precursor materials to make explosive devices.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) deputies were called to a condominium at 12720 Newport Avenue in unincorporated Tustin just before 9 a.m. Wednesday when a neighbor heard a loud explosion and a piece of shrapnel landed in the backyard of his residence. Responding deputies contacted the suspect, Kevin Sean Welch, 38, of Tustin, who lives in an adjoining condominium. Deputies located pieces of a terra-cotta “chiminea” in the backyard of Welch’s residence, and Welch initially admitted to an accidental explosion resulting from an aerated can placed in the burning chiminea. No one else was at Welch’s residence at the time, and no one was injured in the explosion. Continue reading
