A 36-year-old man was shot and killed in Santa Ana this afternoon, according to the O.C. Register.
The shooting happened at about 1:30 p.m. at the 1900 block of West Myrtle Street, according to the SAPD. That is right by Santa Ana’s Kidworks, a non-profit that employs Santa Ana City Councilman David Benavides.

Synopsis: On 05/21/2017, at 3:34 a.m. , a 25 year-old victim was walking northbound on Broadway Street where she was pulled down the stairwell to the Copper Door and was sexually assaulted. A shooting happened today, at 1 p.m., near Centennial Regional Park, where Godinez Fundamental High School and the Santa Ana College Centennial Education Center are located, by Fairview St. and Edinger Ave., according to the O.C. Register.

Israel Perez Rangel, 38, a Santa Ana man got caught begging for gas money for what turned out to be a stolen $265,000 Ferrari and he was finally arrested after a two-week joyride that trashed the stolen vehicle, according to the O.C. Register.
Rangel was being held in the Orange County jail on suspicion of vehicle theft and grand theft auto with prior convictions and vandalism causing damages of $10,000 or more. Continue reading
Armando Antunez, a 27-year old Santa Ana man on probation, was headed for trial but at the last minute he accepted a plea deal instead and was immediately sent to prison for 10 years after he ran away from the police, which led to a police shooting, according to the O.C. Register.
Antunez pleaded guilty to a count of possession of a firearm by a probationer, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a firearm in school zones and participating in gang activity, all felonies. He also admitted sentencing enhancements for gang activity. Continue reading

An armed robber was captured on surveillance video when he robbed Valley Liquors, located at 2429 West Edinger, in Santa Ana, just after midnight on Wednesday morning, according to KTLA.

Police arrested identical twin brothers, Jamal Walker and Jamel Walker – identical twin, 42-year-old brothers, of Los Angeles, early on Sunday, Nov. 19, on suspicion of burglarizing a Costa Mesa rare-coin shop and leading police on a car chase and foot pursuit, according to the O.C. Register.
Someone watching a security camera at the burglarized business saw two men break open the front doors and steal property from a shop that sells rare coins, precious metals and sports memorabilia. The shop is located at the 1900 block of Harbor Blvd. Continue reading
Two suspects believed to have burglarized a Costa Mesa business early Sunday were caught after leading police on a brief pursuit, according to the O.C. Register.

Daniel Enrique Ramirez, 24, of Santa Ana; and Joshua Rudy Ramirez, 21, of Corona, pleaded guilty to gang activity, eluding police and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the O.C. Register.
Both men were sentenced to eight years in prison after they led the SAPD on a high-speed pursuit that began in Santa Ana and ended when they crashed into an 80-year-old woman’s bedroom in Fountain Valley. Continue reading

OCDA was given $672,500 for the Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Vertical Prosecution Program and $594,600 for the California Traffic Safety Resource Program Training Network.
