SAPD Homicide Detectives in conjunction with the OC Coroner’s Office are investigating possible human remains located underneath a residence at 600 S. Broadway, according to the SAPD.

Our Facebook page readers reported a shooting last night at the Townsend apartments by Raitt and McFadden. They were right!
As it turned out SAPD police offers were conducting proactive patrol checks in the Townsend neighborhood at the time and they witnessed a drive-by shooting occur.
The police immediately pursued the suspects and of course they sped off.
The suspects led police on a short pursuit following the shooting and fled on foot, but were ultimately found by police in the 2000 block of Myrtle Street after officers set up a perimeter, according to the O.C. Register.
They were taken into custody. An assault rifle was also recovered.
Bad news though – the arrested juvenile suspects were ultimately released pending further investigation.
No victims were located that may have been hit by the gunfire.
A suspect parolee at large was located by the SAPD this afternoon with the help of their K9 officer Kaylee, who found the suspect in a victim’s bathroom.
The Suspect is now in custody.The lockdown has been lifted at a nearby school.
The arrest was made in the area of Maple & Walnut.
The SAPD is reporting police activity in the area of Maple & Walnut.
A local school is on lockdown. The Advanced Learning Academy has an Elementary School near that location.

The Santa Ana City Council during its closed session meeting last night, Dec. 17, 2019, voted unanimously to authorize the City Attorney to take legal action to curb the abuse of its homeless resources by others.
The Council voted to bring action against those cities, the county and any other entities engaging in an organized effort to transport homeless individuals out of their area to Santa Ana.
Council members also unanimously authorized bringing legal action against the Mental Health Association of Orange County to ensure that its operations in Santa Ana are nuisance-free.
Additionally, the Council directed City staff to proceed with the existing cross-complaint against the County of Orange and other Orange County cities to:
“Through no fault of our own, an undue burden in this countywide humanitarian crisis has been placed on Santa Ana’s homeless shelters, social services, neighborhoods and resources,” Santa Ana City Manager Kristine Ridge said today.
In 2018, the City of Santa Ana conducted a point-in-time count of the homeless living in the city and found that over 50 percent of that population had arrived in Santa Ana from other parts of the county.
The City has been spending nearly $17 million annually on homelessness-related matters and expects that to increase to $25 million in the current fiscal year.

Five male armed-robbery suspects dressed in dark clothes with their faces covered, entered a Walgreens on Euclid Street and Chapman Avenue, in Garden Grove, early this morning at about 4:10 a.m., according to the O.C. Register. They were not there to fill their prescriptions!
The suspects entered the pharmacy, one of which was armed with a handgun, and jumped over the pharmacy counter and began taking codeine bottles and other merchandise, according to the Garden Grove police.
The robbery suspects then too off in a car, leading the police on a short pursuit going north on Euclid Street.
However during the chase, the suspect’s vehicle suddenly caught fire and was burning as it stopped at the intersection of Euclid and Cerritos streets.
The suspects jumped out of the burning vehicle and ran off on foot. They left behind evidence and some personal property, according to KTLA.
The personal property included a handgun that was retrieved with the assistance of the Anaheim police and Orange County sheriff’s deputies.

Eddy Bustamante Infante of Santa Ana , a 25-year-old former SAUSD after-school instructor, pleaded guilty on Tuesday, Dec. 10, to molesting four girls at Greenville Elementary School, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
Infante accepted charges including four counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14. Unfortunately a fifth count of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14 and a count of oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child 10 years or younger were dismissed.
We do not know yet how much prison time Infante will serve as he is not scheduled to be sentenced until Feb. 7, at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
Infante began to work as a n SAUSD after-school teacher in 2015. He victimized students who he was in charge of.
The SAPD arrested Infante back on Oct. 5, 2018, as a suspect in the sexual assault of three girls. He got out on a $1 million bail but went right back to jail when a fourth victim stepped up and spoke with the police investigators. She told them that Infante molested her when she was only 6 years old!
Infante also admitted that he sexually assaulted both an 8-year-old girl and a 10-year-old girl between August 2016 and June 2017 and a 9-year-old girl between August 2015 and June 2017, according to the OCDA.
One has to wonder how exactly the SAUSD is vetting their hires.
A man was stabbed and wounded this afternoon in the Auto Zone parking lot located at 430 W. 17th St., according to CBS.
The man was later identified as Pedro Guadarrama, age 22.
First responders treated the victim at the scene while waiting for an ambulance, and were notified that the suspect was still in the area, Bertagna said. He was located nearby and taken into custody. A knife presumed to have been used in the attack was found in his possession, according to the O.C. Register.
Apparently a man began flashing a weapon and then stabbed an unknown male victim in the Auto Zone parking lot, according to the SAPD.
The suspect appeared to be under the influence or had mental health issues, according to the SAPD.
OCFA paramedics also responded to the scene. They tended to the victim, whose condition is not yet known. The suspect, who was not identified, was also strapped into a stretcher, in handcuffs.
On 12/1/19, at approx. 3 p.m., a male suspect entered Peters Mini Market, located at the 5100 Block of W. 17th St. After contacting the clerk who was in¬side a locked office, the suspect asked to cash a check, and was refused service. The suspect proceeded to break the door down, and entered the clerk’s office. The suspect removed in excess of $3,000 cash from the money counter inside the office. The suspect fled the location on foot.

Union Pacific Railroad today began a comprehensive cleanup operation at its properties across Santa Ana.
This was the result of the City of Santa Ana’s constant communication with Union Pacific during the past several months about the condition of the company’s properties.
The City has directed its homeless outreach and case management contractor to put resources into the areas around the Union Pacific corridor in order to provide assistance to those who may need it. The City’s Quality of Life Team also is available to assist with any issues related to the homeless.

Summary: On Tuesday, 12-10-19 at 6:22 am SAPD officers responded to a call reference a Male Hispanic Adult, later identified as suspect David Ceja (38) Santa Ana, who had entered an apartment in the 1300 Block of South Standard Ave and sexually assaulted a female victim while she was asleep.
When the victim woke up and observed the male, whom she did not know, she yelled for assistance at which time the suspect fled. A family member of the victim heard the screams and chased/caught the suspect, detaining him until police arrived.
Ceja was taken to a nearby hospital for a broken arm he sustained after the fight between himself and the victim’s brother, police said. The Santa Ana Police Department made mention of the fact that the family of the victim were avid participants in MMA-style fighting, according to KTLA.
Suspect Ceja was booked into the SAPD Jail for burglary and sexual assault charges.
Police described Ceja as a documented gang member who had just been released from the Santa Ana jail days earlier on a case for criminal threats and using a deadly weapon. In that earlier case, he had entered a guilty plea on Sept. 13, according to ABC.
SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) is proud to announce that it has been chosen by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to continue serving as the statewide traffic safety training agency in an ongoing effort to combat drugged and drunk driving across California.
OTS has awarded the OCDA two grants totaling $1.47 million in order to fund the office’s Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Vertical Prosecution Program, which dedicates eight prosecutors to prosecuting drugged and drunk driving cases, as well as continue the California Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Training Network, which trains California law enforcement and prosecutors on how to effectively prosecute driving under the influence cases.
Unfortunately, the number of drug-impaired driving cases investigated and prosecuted across California has increased in the wake of the state’s 2016 decriminalization of marijuana.
“I have committed my public safety career to stopping drunk and drugged driving.” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “The unnecessary loss of life is why I, as a member of the State Assembly, authored the Steve Ambriz Act to require every Californian who wants a driver’s license to sign a form that states he or she has been advised that being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or both, impairs the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle, and if they do so anyway and someone is killed, they can be charged with murder.
The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has taken the statewide lead in providing police officers and prosecutors with cutting edge training to hold drugged and drunk drivers accountable and make California streets safer.”
OCDA was awarded $754,563 for the Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Vertical Prosecution Program and $722,513 for the California Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor Training Network.
In 2011, OCDA developed a multi-agency collaborative driving under the influence of drugs prosecution, investigation and toxicology model which has served as the innovative foundation to develop a statewide program.
In October 2016, OCDA expanded its traffic safety training role to the Southern California region, serving as the lead agency in prosecution and law enforcement training. This includes the delivery of live trainings, roundtables, training videos, and legal updates. In 2017, OCDA began to develop a statewide training program through its administration of the Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP) Training Network. As part of this process, OCDA has begun to align law enforcement and prosecution agencies throughout the state to create a massive statewide training, resource and education network. This responsibility offers agencies throughout the state the opportunity to share expertise in the area of traffic safety as the OCDA works in partnership to proactively investigate and prosecute traffic related crimes, increasing public safety in all jurisdictions throughoutCalifornia.
During the 2019 grant year, our TSRP team conducted more than 50 trainings to prosecutors, peace officers, toxicologists, community members, and policymakers about the dangers, investigation, and prosecution of driving under the influence of drugs
As part of these OTS grants, OCDA maintains eight vertical DUI-Drug prosecutors assigned throughout Orange County.
These deputy district attorneys review, file and prosecute nearly all drug-impaired driving cases filed in Orange County.
Collectively in the 2019 grant year, OCDA prosecutors filed charges on more than 1,000 Driving Under the Influence of Drugs (DUID) and combination cases submitted by police agencies and secured more than 400 convictions in DUID and combination cases.
This year, the eight prosecutors assigned to the program are Deputy District Attorneys Matthew Bradbury and Jessica Le of Central Justice Center, Alex Brown and Andrea Schug of West Justice Center, Charles Henninger and Katheryn Fernandez of Harbor Justice Center, and Ben Atienza and Christina Cornejo of North Justice Center.
The Alcohol and Drug Impaired Driver Vertical Prosecution Program grant is overseen by Assistant District Attorneys Suzie Price and Brock Zimmon. The TSRP Training Network grant is under the supervision of Senior Assistant District Attorney Keith Bogardus and Assistant District Attorney Brock Zimmon. The TSRP team consists of Deputy District Attorneys Hoon Chang and Dalia Wahab and OCDA Investigator Eric Franke.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
You may have noticed a ruckus last night, at a laundromat located at Grand and Fairhaven in Santa Ana. Turns out there was a fight that turned into a stabbing and then a carjacking, according to CBS.
Apparently a fight broke out among a group of young men at the laundromat. Not sure what they were doing there. Perhaps laundry? The other stores at that plaza include a massage business and a Big Lots as well as Buccaneer Pizza, which makes terrific gourmet pizzas.
One of the boys who was attacked in the fight called his mom and asked for a pickup. The fight then moved to nearby streets in Tustin.
The dutiful mom showed up to pick up her attacked son but then the situation got uglier as she was carjacked at Fairhaven and Eastwood. Thankfully she was not hurt.
The carjacked vehicle was a Ford Expedition. The police put out an alert about the vehicle and it was eventually spotted in the area by police officers. They subsequently arrested three juvenile suspects at about 10:45 p.m. Monday night at the 13300 block of Flint in Tustin.
Eventually a man showed up at a local hospital with stab wounds. He is expected to survive but he was arrested and police believe he is the one who started the fight at the laundromat.
The SAPD is also apparently looking for the young man who called his mom for a pickup, inadvertently setting off the carjacking incident.
COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) is investigating a jewelry store robbery and kidnapping of the storeowner, who was assaulted and left with serious injuries.
On Dec. 4, 2019, at 10:13 p.m., CMPD received an audible alarm alert from a jewelry store located at the 1800 block of Newport Boulevard. Officers found the door to the location unlocked. A search of the business did not reveal any signs of a theft and the safe was secure. The business had closed at 6:00 p.m. and the owner could not be located. After speaking to the owner’s family, a missing person report was initiated.
In the early morning hours of Dec. 5, 2019, the storeowner was located in Santa Ana by the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD). He was found with serious injuries and bound with duct tape. SAPD determined that the storeowner was the victim of a kidnapping and robbery that occurred in Costa Mesa, and they contacted CMPD to take over the investigation. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for the non-life threatening injuries he sustained.
At this time, no arrests have been made. This is an active investigation and no further details are being released at this time.

On 07/03/2019, a warrant was issued for Moises Resendiz Salazar. 50-years-old. Salazar is wanted for lewd acts with a child with a prior conviction for indecent exposure and lewd act with a minor.
Salazar fled when police attempted to contact him at his residence. Salazar has not been seen and has since disconnected his cellphone.
