Another man was shot in Councilman Benavides’ Ward midday. When will he push for more police services?
Here we go again! More violence in central Santa Ana and longtime Councilmembers like David Benavides and Sal Tinajero that represent much of that area, do not step up and push for more police services. Luckily, new Councilman Juan Villegas is very pro-public safety, but everyone on the Council should help.
As we reported earlier, today on n Sunday, April 2 at about 1:30 p.m. a man was riding his bicycle in the area of 700 South Pacific when he was confronted by a male pedestrian. A verbal confrontation occurred and the male pedestrian shot at the bicyclist.

Three victims were injured in two drive by shootings in Santa Ana on Saturday
On Saturday, April 1 at about 3:30 p.m. SAPD police officers responded to the area of 500 East Pine regarding a shooting that had just occurred, according to SAPD Case # 17-08711.
Further investigation revealed a group in a vehicle got into an argument with a group of pedestrians and a shooting occurred were two males were struck. Continue reading

Arrested: Angel Sanchez (37) Costa Mesa, Booked into the SAPD Jail on the Sexual Assault Charges and being held on $100,000 bail
During the evening hours of March 30, 2017, a female adult requested an Uber ride from a company gathering to her home in Santa Ana. The female victim was picked up by Uber driver Angel Sanchez in a 2016 Grey Toyota Sienna (similar to the one pictured), and driven to a street near her residence in Santa Ana. There, Sanchez sexually assaulted the victim in the Toyota Sienna.
After the sexual assault, the victim ran from the suspect’s vehicle and immediately called the police department for assistance. Continue reading
Santa Ana man gets 9 years in prison after trying to have his ex-wife murdered

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was sentenced to nine years in state prison yesterday for attempting to have his ex-wife murdered during the course of their child support and custody family court hearings. William John Wallace, 36, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty on March 30, 2017, to one felony count of attempted murder and two felony counts of solicitation to commit murder.
Wallace is divorced from Jane Doe, with whom he shares a child. In 2013, the former couple was engaged in a child support and custody battle. Continue reading

Don’t Let Caller ID Spoofing Hang You Up
That ‘Southern California Edison’ phone call may not be legit.

Your telephone rings and a Southern California Edison number appears on your caller ID display.
You answer and the caller says they are affiliated with SCE and want to talk to you about solar installations or other products and services that can save you money on your electric bill. They may then ask about your electricity usage and other personal information.
Beware! This may sound like a legitimate SCE call, but it’s not. It’s a caller ID spoofing scam.
Two shootings were reported in Santa Ana on Tuesday
On Tuesday, March 28 at about 5 p.m., SAPD police officers responded to the area of 700 South Center regarding a shooting. The investigation revealed the shooting occurred in front of Jerome Center. Witnesses said the victim was shot in his upper torso, according to SAPD Case # 17-08295.
This shooting happened next to Monte Vista Elementary School in Santa Ana’s Ward 4, which is represented by Councilman David Benavides. Continue reading
The SAUSD’s School Police Chief is retiring on March 31
On the morning of March 29, 2017, the men and women of the Santa Ana School Police Department formally recognized the retirement of Chief of Police, Hector Rodriguez.
Chief Rodriguez will retire effective, March 31, 2017 after having had served in a variety of law enforcement roles for the past 29 years; includes the Los Angeles Police Department from 1988 to 2002, the Los Angeles School Police Department from 1991 to 2013, and retiring from the Santa Ana School Police Department as Chief of Police where he served from 2013-2017. SANTA ANA, Calif. – A felon is facing additional charges for human trafficking, pimping, pandering, and assault. Deunta Patterson, 26, Bakersfield, was arraigned yesterday, March 28, 2017, with 22 felony counts of pandering by promise, threat, or violence to become a prostitute, four felony counts each of pimping and pandering a minor over 16 years old by procuring, two felony counts each of human trafficking, human trafficking of a minor, and attempted pimping, and one felony count each of pimping a minor, pandering, and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Patterson also faces sentencing enhancements for human trafficking of a minor by force and/or fear and a prior strike conviction for residential burglary in 2013 in Kern County. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison. Patterson is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on April 26, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-57, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Continue reading
The family of slain TKO boxer Isaac Gonzalez is hosting a Kermes and car wash on 4/2
The family and friends of Isaac Gonzalez, a 15-year old TKO boxer who was shot and murdered by gangbangers in Santa Ana on March 25, is hosting a Kermes and Car Wash to help pay for his funeral expenses on April 2, 2017, starting at 7 a.m., at 2023 S. Susan St., in Santa Ana.
A Kermes is a what a Catholic religious bazaar is called in Spanish. It’s usually a fundraiser, often held at a church, where rides, games, music, dancing and food are available. In Santa Ana Kermes are often used to help local families to pay for funeral expenses and also to help to pay medical bills when someone becomes very ill. Continue reading
Santa Ana man charged with molesting two girls, including one younger than 10
Joseph Margo, a 48-year-old man was charged Monday with sexually assaulting two girls, including one who was 10 or younger, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.
Margo is facing numerous felony charges including two counts each of sexual intercourse or sodomy with a child 10 or younger, committing a lewd or lascivious act with a minor younger than 14, oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child 10 or younger, and lewd acts on a child aged 14 or 15. Tutor at Santa Ana’s Think Together arrested for distributing child porn
Anthony Robert Chau, a 28-year-old Rowland Heights man who worked with students in Orange County, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of distributing child pornography by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, according to the O.C. Register.
Chau came to the attention of detectives during an operation that was not specifically targeting him but targeting people who trade child pornography online, Wegener said. It did not appear that Chau manufactured any of the footage he distributed, according to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. Continue reading
A 15-year old Santa Ana boy has died after being shot on Saturday night
Isaac Gonzalez, a 15-year-old boy, died at a local hospital Sunday, March 26, after being shot multiple times Saturday night, according to the O.C. Register.
On Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 11:51 p.m., Santa Ana Police Department Communications received a call of a male down and bleeding in the area of 2302 W. St. Gertrude. Santa Ana Police Officers and Orange County Fire Authority personnel arrived on the scene and found the 15 year old male victim, Gonzalez, suffering from several gunshot wounds. Fire department personnel transported Gonzalez to an area hospital where he ultimately died. Continue reading
