Mayor Miguel Pulido will present the owners of the Little Sparrow Café with the Exceptional Service Award for their outstanding contributions to the City of Santa Ana at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.

Armed with a dream to create a better food culture in Orange County, Bruce Marsh and his wife, Santa Ana native, Naseem Aflakian, partnered with Jenny Le to open the “Little Sparrow Cafe,” a French inspired bistro in Downtown Santa Ana in May 2013. Law enforcement officers representing 40 Orange County agencies pay tribute to our fallen officers

TUSTIN, CA – (May 22, 2015) – Charged with protecting those they serve, police officers put themselves in harm’s way to enforce the law. Unfortunately, some officers pay the ultimate price, laying down their own life in valiant service of others. In honor of these fallen heroes, the Orange County Sheriff’s Advisory Council and the Orange County Chiefs’ of Police and Sheriff’s Association (OCCPSA) each year sponsor the Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony.

The Santa Ana Cemetery is hosting their annual Memorial Day Program on Monday, May 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m., at 1919 Santa Clara Ave., in Santa Ana.

George Upton Annual Barrier Free Picnic

The Santa Ana Kiwanis are hosting their First “George Upton Annual Barrier Free Picnic” today, May 22, 2015, from 9:30 am to 12 noon, at the Kiwanis Barrier-Free Park in Santa Ana.  The Santa Ana Barrier Free park is a place where children with special needs can play alongside their typical peers, while not being help back by the normal “barriers” that exist in most play grounds.

They are hosting 150 Special Needs students from the SAUSD.

The Santa Ana Police Department and the Orange County Fire Authority will be at this event which will be catered by the Orange County Employees Association (OCEA).  Circle K is also participating. Continue reading→

Mayor Miguel Pulido will present Dominick “Nick” Berardino, General Manager of the Orange County Employees Association (OCEA), with the Exceptional Citizen Award for his outstanding service to the City of Santa Ana at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.

OCEA is the largest independent public-employee labor union in Orange County. With its headquarters in Santa Ana, OCEA represents 18,000 public employees in their collective bargaining with public agencies. (May 13, 2015) – Santa Ana Unified School District’s Segerstrom High School will be the host location of the USA Volleyball doubleheader featuring both the U.S. Women’s and Men’s National Teams this Friday, May 15, 2015. Students and their families are invited to attend back-to-back matches beginning with the U.S. Women at 5:30 p.m., followed by the U.S. Men at 7:30 p.m. An autograph session will follow at the conclusion of the men’s match.

“This is a great opportunity for our students to have access to such talented athletes. It’s inspiring and uplifting for them to watch some of the most powerful forces in world of volleyball right here in their community,” said Deidra Powell, Chief Communications Officer for the Santa Ana Unified School District.
