Discovery Science Center e-waste collection also offers four free general admission* tickets to the Cube

SANTA ANA, Calif. (August 27, 2013) – Exclusive “home run” incentives are available to those who bring e-waste to Discovery Science Center (DSC) on Saturday, September 7, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. E-waste participants will receive up to four (4) same day general admission* tickets to DSC and have the chance to meet Angels pitcher Ernesto Frieri.

Sponsored by Discovery Science Center, the County of Orange, Goodwill of Orange County, and Angels Baseball, this special collection event invites participants to use their DSC admission* tickets to visit the Eco Challenge exhibit and learn how they can make Orange County a cleaner and greener place to live and play. The 11th Annual Madison Park Neighborhood Association Walk-a-Thon, Resource Faire and Cultural Festival is set for Saturday, September 28, 2013, from 8:30 am to 1 pm, at Madison Park, located at 528 South Standard Ave., in Santa Ana.

SANTA ANA, CA (September 3, 2013) – On Saturday, September 7, 2013, Blueray Aquatics will host a community outreach event for the entire City of Santa Ana with the 2nd Annual Water Olympics at Memorial Pool. Blueray’s focus is to give back to the City and its residents, as all the proceeds for this event, will go back to the community aquatics programming. Flag football game to benefit Valley H.S. Coach Frankie Oviedo set for 9/1

On Sunday September 1st, 2013, from 10 am – 4pm on the Valley High School football field, the Valley Football Alumni will be hosting a Flag football Game to benefit Coach Frankie Oviedo. Coach Oviedo has been working at Valley High School for more than 20 years. During this time he has been coaching at Valley in both football and basketball. Coach Oviedo has much to celebrate this year his eldest daughter recently got married and gave birth to his first grandchild, also after coaching his youngest daughter softball team she will be a freshman at Valley High School. Everything changed around April when he was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and after a current PET scan it revealed that the cancer has spread to his liver and it has become inoperable.

The boys found out and were devastated by the news and wanted to show him that they care. So Juan Padilla and his Fiancee Elvia Arceo came up with the idea of hosting a flag football game so that they can raise money and show Coach that they love him and support him. Continue reading→

“To & From The Heart” promises to be an inspiring and rewarding program that revives the Taiwanese indigenous culture through music. To the children, the songs are like an umbilical cord linking them to their ancestors, and now they are proudly introducing their cultural heritage to the world through their pure and earthly voices. The Seventeenth Annual Inner-Coastal Watershed Clean-up Day is set for September 21, 2013, between 9 am and 12 pm, at Santiago Park. Registration begins at 9am at the Santiago Park Nature Center, which is located off of Memory Lane, a few blocks east of Main St., not far from the CityPlace and the MainPlace Mall, in Santa Ana.  This event is sponsored by Trails4all.org.

A garbage patch estimated to be larger than the state of Texas is floating in the Pacific Ocean. Many animals eat this trash by mistake, or feed it to their young, killing countless sea turtles and birds each year. Continue reading→
