Grand Central Art Center is proud to announce the arrival of Artist in Residence, Adriana Salazar from Bogota, Columbia.  Adriana will be in residence for the next two months as she develops two major site-specific installation – one in our main gallery and one that will take place at the Orange County Museum of Art. Both projects are part of the upcoming 2013 California-Pacific Triennial, being curated by Dan Cameron of OCMA. SANTA ANA – Forty young Armenian dancers ranging in age from four to 19 are holding their final rehearsals this month ahead of their Sunday, June 2nd performance at the Forty Martyrs Church hall.

Community organizer and head of the “Hamazkayin” Armenian Educational and Cultural Society Siamanto chapter Shoushig Arslanian says the upcoming Yeraz Armenian School of Dance show weaves the tale of a boy who falls asleep after a long day at school and dreams of traveling to Armenia. Join the OC May Day Coalition this Monday night, at 5:30 pm, at the Santa Ana City Council meeting, as they come together to share their stories and demand that the Council Members and Mayor Miguel Pulido stop the contract between the police department and ICE.  Their message is to stop deportations!

Good food news to report – Santa Ana’s Green Parrot Villa is opening for lunch and dinner after several years of being used strictly as a banquet facility.  They are having a little pre-opening preview party today, May 5, from 3 pm to 5 pm, with free samples of their delicious food.

The Green Parrot Villa is located at 2035 N. Main St., across from the Bowers Museum.  There is a large free public parking lot just north of them, on the east side of Main St., just south of the 5 Freeway.  They plan to be open Monday through Thursday with a Buffet Lunch from 11 am to 2 pm.  They will also offer a Happy Hour daily from 4 pm to 8 pm, with Dinner service as well.   Continue reading→

SANTA ANA PUBLIC LIBRARY TO SHOWCASE TRADITIONAL DRESSES AND REBOZOS (SHAWLS) FROM VARIOUS STATES OF MEXICO

SANTA ANA, CA (April 30, 2013) – On May 4th, the Santa Ana Public Library and the Santa Ana Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Agency will launch its Third Annual “State of My Heart” exhibit. This year’s theme will focus on traditional dresses and rebozos (shawls) from the various states of Mexico. The exhibit exemplifies the cultural heritage of Mexico and celebrates the artistry of its people. This eclectic selection of dresses and rebozos will be on display at the Santa Ana Public Library, Second Floor, Meeting Room A, from May 4th to May 18, 2013. Continue reading→
