Supervisor Janet Nguyen and the Atlas PAC are hosting a 2013 Lunar New Year Celebration Fundraiser, for her campaign for the 34th State Senate District – and she couldn’t even find a venue in her district! That’s right, she is holding this event at a restaurant located outside of the 34th State Senate District, at ANQI Gourmet Bistro, which is located at South Coast Plaza, at 3333 South Bristol St., in Costa Mesa. The event is set for February 28, 2013, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

I guess the theme of this event is fitting, as this time the Chinese New Year is the “Year of the Snake,” which is an apt description of Nguyen. Continue reading→

The SAPD will buy guns back anonymously on 2/23 at the Santa Ana Bowl

The Santa Ana Police Department has announced the City of Santa Ana’s First Ever Anonymous Gun Buy Back Program, which will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, from 9 am to 2 pm, at the Santa Ana Bowl, located at 602 N. Flower St., in Santa Ana.

Residents of Santa Ana will receive a $100 gift card for handguns, shotguns and rifles, and a $200 gift card for assault weapons. Undetermined is whether or not criminals and gang members will be motivated to turn in their guns. Continue reading→

According to the U.S. Census, there are more than 27 million small businesses nationwide, and more than 28 percent are owned by women. Paul Walters is no longer our city manager, but he remains a top fan of the cover band Cheap Date, which features his wife, Mary Walters, and her family – including Ellen Hirota, backup and occasional lead vocalist; Tim Hirota, lead guitarist, vocalist and manager; Peter Hirota, drummer; Ann “Annie” Spencer, backup vocalist and tambourine; and Dominic Hirota, lead vocalist, as well as longtime band members second guitarist Jeff Halili and bassist Brian Satterfield, according to the O.C. Register.

And guess what? We are in for a treat. Cheap Date will be performing on Saturday, February 16th, from 8:30pm – 11:30pm, at The Olde Ship in Santa Ana for a VERY special event.
