The Santa Ana City Council has once again, with terribly short notice, scheduled a “Special Meeting” set for tonight, January 29, at 5 pm, at Council Chambers. This is another secret meeting as the Council will be deliberating the fate of our City Manager, Paul Walters.
The timing is odd as the Council’s Public Safety Committee was supposed to meet tonight as well, at 5:30 pm, at the police station community room. How are they going to run two meetings at once? Very odd.

The Tet Festival of Southern California is taking place this year from Feb. 8-10, in Westminster. This event is recognized as the world’s largest Tet Festival outside of Vietnam. The Tet Festival attracts over 100,000+ every year. Visitors are immersed with a vibrant array of traditional foods, live entertainment, festive games, and customs celebrating the new year. A coalition of groups led by the Vietnamese American Federation of Southern California raised more than $81,000, so the Tet Parade, the only one of its kind in the U.S., will be happening as part of the Tet Festival, on Feb. 10.

On February 2, 2013, Heroes Elementary will be having an Electronic Waste Recycling Event as a fundraiser for the school. Those who wish to help can bring by old computers, printers, monitors, cell phones, televisions, small appliances, or other electronics. Anything that plugs into a wall or runs on batteries will be accepted, and the more is collected, the more the school makes.
Those who wish to drop off material only need to load it into their car and drive through the school parking lot. All Green Recycling employees will remove the material from the car for them and get them quickly on their way. Continue reading
