Celebrate Dia de los Muertos in Santa Ana on Nov. 5

For the 9th year in a row, Centro Cultural de México is organizing Noche de Altares (A Night of Altars/Day of the Dead/Dia de los Muertos) on Saturday, Nov. 5. This year Centro is proud to present this free event in partnership with Calacas Inc., a Santa Ana business that promotes art and culture through products made by indigenous people living in México and local artisans living in Southern California.

Noche de Altares is a community-based event celebrating Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), one of México’s oldest, indigenous festivals. Organized by volunteers, the purpose of the celebration is to honor the ancient traditions of the festival and bring community members together through art, culture, and compassion. Four Republicans now running for the 72nd Assembly District

There are now four Republicans running for the 72nd Assembly District, which includes part of Santa Ana.  The Republican candidates include Huntington Beach Council Member Matt Harper (Supervisor Janet Nguyen’s former Chief of Staff); Westminster Mayor Pro Tem Tyler Diep; OC Board of Education Trustee Long Pham and Huntington Beach Mayor Joe Carchio.

Free legal clinic for low-income residents, in Santa Ana on 10/25

Free flu shots in Westminster on Nov. 4

City of Fullerton Striving to Improve System of Care Launches the Fullerton Task Force on Homelessness and Mental Health Services, on Thursday, October 20, 4:00 pm @ the Fullerton Public Library

In the aftermath of the Kelly Thomas tragedy, the City of Fullerton is working to learn from this incident and make a change in the community. The City Council asked OC Human Relations to facilitate a task force of Fullerton residents and homeless/mental health experts to better understand the current situation of the mentally ill homeless and identify how the community might do better in the future. Meet comic artist Lalo Alcaraz at the Delhi Center’s Zocalo on 12/1

The Delhi Center is hosting a Zocalo event with special guest Lalo Alcaraz, the nationally syndicated cartoonist of “La Cucaracha,” which is one of my favorite newspaper comic strips, on December 1, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Armando de la Libertad, the CEO of the Delhi Center, had this to say about their Zocala event in their event invitation: We have prepared a very special evening for you.  We’re promising shorter speeches, great food,  mariachi, tequila tasting, a deejay plus a special audio visual presentation by Lalo Alcaraz — the cartoonist who produces La Cucaracha, the nationally syndicated cartoon.”
