Join the Orange County Democratic Foundation for a detailed overview of the final release of new state district maps for Orange County at their August luncheon, on Tuesday, August 30, from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm, at the Center Club in Costra Mesa, located at 650 Town Center Drive.

After considerable interest from their members as to what the new maps will mean for Orange County and their current local officials, they have invited a panel of redistricting professionals to give us a complete review of the process and lay out in detail what the new districts look like for the county. Free Park Santiago Summer Concert tonight

The Park Santiago Neighborhood Association is hosting their Second Annual Summer Concert tonight, August 27, from 5 to 10 pm. at Santiago Park, at the Baseball Field.

The event will feature an open air concert by cover band “Hey, That’s my Bike.”

Although the concert is free, donations are appreciated to defray costs, and vendors will be on hand selling food and craft items. Plan to bring a canned-food donation for Grandma’s House of Hope and a blanket or chair to sit on. Meet at the ball diamond (Santiago Street north of Park Lane). The Santa Ana City Council will host a PBID Public Hearing on 8/24

The Santa Ana City Council is holding a special meeting on Wednesday, August 24, at 5 pm.  The biggest item on the agenda is a public hearing regarding the controversial Downtown Santa Ana PBID – an annual assessment that has succeeded in cleaning up and marketing Downtown Santa Ana.

I have no idea how the Santa Ana City Council will approach the PBID, but I do know that Mayor Pro Tem Claudia Alvarez has a real problem with Downtown, Inc., the organization that runs the PBID.  I think Downtown, Inc. can count on Mayor Miguel Pulido and Council Members Carlos Bustamante, Vince Sarmiento and David Benavides.  I am not sure where Council Members Sal Tinajero and Michele Martinez are on the PBID.  I think they are supportive of the proposed changes to the PBID’s boundaries, bit they may want even more changes.

There is a free stand-up comedy show called “Killing in the Name of Sanity” to raise awareness of bipolar disorder, scheduled for this evening, August 21, at
