The owner of a local Ecology Summer Day Camp is offering a limited number of scholarships and discounts for the 2012 program near the border of Santa Ana and Orange.
Students in the camp—open to ages 6-14—will learn the fundamentals of environmental science as they explore habitat of the Santiago Park Nature Reserve (on Memory Lane, between La Veta and Main streets). Topics covered will include: introduction to the local native ecosystem; basic scientific and ecological principles; examination of microscopic organisms in the park and its creek; conservation importance (energy, water, resources); and reasons and ways to avoid pollution while protecting the environment. The Fountain Valley Summerfest Committee, in partnership with the City of Fountain Valley is launching its 4th annual community celebration called “Fountain Valley Summerfest” to be held from June 710, at the Fountain Valley Sports Park at Brookhurst and Heil. Admission is FREE!
This 4-day celebration will include carnival rides, food and beverage booths, game booths, local entertainment, exhibitors, non-profit organizations, live music, beer/wine garden, Battle of the Bands, Live Sports Tent, the Fountain Valley Classic Car & Truck Show, and the Dog Day Afternoon event. GARDEN GROVE, CA (May 10, 2012) — For the 54th year thousands of children will come again to the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival to ride the rides, savor the strawberries and wave to stars from their favorite shows who’ll be riding in the festival’s parade. The parade starts Saturday, May 26th at 10 a.m. Then at 1:30 p.m. fans will line up to get celebrity autographs at the signing booth. Two new additions to the festival’s 12-star celebrity line-up are Aedin Mincks and Mindy Sterling from the Disney Channel’s hit show
A.N.T. Farm.
Northeast Santa Ana Little League (NESALL) will host the District 30 Challenger All Star Game on Saturday May 19, 2012 @ 9:00 am. Please come out and support these great kids as they battle their physical challenges to play a game of baseball. It is an uplifting experience for these children to play the field, hit the ball, and run the bases. Your cheers of support as they play this game brings so much joy to their lives.
As we move forward into next season we hope to identify volunteers and players who want to take part in a Santa Ana Challenger team. Please come out and see what it is all about. (Santa Ana, CA) – The City of Santa Ana has partnered with local Organizations such as: netz 4 Life, Latino Health Access and Northgate Markets in order to promote their 6th Annual 2012 Health & Fitness Fair at Centennial Park/ Godinez High School gymnasium. The event date will be Saturday the 19th of May, 2012 from 9am- 2pm. Over the past 6 years this event has become a celebration for local Community members, Organizations and leaders to establish the importance of being active, having fun, while endorsing the “I Work Out!” initiative, “Get Fit– Get Healthy!” This initiative has been introduced by netz 4 Life along with their “Leave No Rim Netless” Campaign and “Reaching Out- One Neighborhood at a Time” to inspire at-risk youth to become active leaders within their own community and continue to dream and believe that they too can make a difference. It’s going to be a good weekend for nerds and the industry that serves them, according to the L.A. Times. Participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE* to anyone who comes into their stores. *Check with your local shop for their participation and rules. But the giveaway offer isn’t limited to superhero comics: All genres are fair game, including Disney comics, Japanese Manga, Tokyopop, newspaper strip staples like “Archie,” and work from independent artists. THINK Together and American Red Cross Partner to train parents of preschool age children in first aid, CPR and disaster preparedness
About 120 parents are expected to attend the training session at the nonprofit extended-learning provider’s Orange County Region office in Santa Ana.
