Community Alert: BIG FIESTA IN DOWNTOWN SANTA ANA / FIESTA GRANDE EN EL CENTRO DE SANTA ANA

The 37th annual Fiestas Patrias event will take place on Saturday and Sunday September 12 and 13 in the City of Santa Ana’s historic downtown. The street fair is on 4th street between French and Sycamore and is filled with food booths, great cultural merchandise, arts and culture booths, and a large main stage showcasing over fifteen performances.

The headliner for the main stage on Saturday at 8 PM is Maribel Guardia and for Sunday at 7 PM is Fidel Rueda. Ms. Guardia is a singer, dancer and a well-known T.V and Film actors. Mr. Rueda increased his popularity with the release of the very popular disc entailed Paz en Este Amor, which landed his music on the Billboard charts in both the Regional Mexican Airplay and Hot Latin Tracks categories. The Fiestas Patrias 2015 fun begins at 12PM both Saturday and Sunday and ends at 10 PM. Continue reading→

The Bowers Museum is hosting a free Caribbean Family Festival this Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bowers Museum Margaret and Cleo Key Courtyard, located at 2002 N. Main, in Santa Ana.

The Bowers is offering free admission to the Family Festival, the Kidseum and also free admission to the Bowers Museum – for Santa Ana residents and active duty members of the U.S. Military.

Santa Ana’s new Celebration Church will celebrate their grand opening on Sep. 13

Santa Ana has a new church, called the Celebration Church. They are celebrating a grand opening on Sunday, Sep. 13, at 11:15 a.m. The Celebration Church is located at 555 E. Memory Lane, in north Santa Ana. They are across the street from Santiago Park, near the Town and Country Manor Retirement Center. The church entrance is off of Lawson Dr. The building was formerly occupied by the Community Bible Church. That congregation appears to have moved to Huntington Beach.

Dr. Gary Tangeman is the lead pastor at this new church. He was formerly the senior pastor at Crossroads Church, in Bremerton, WA, according to Linkedin. He wrote the book The Disciple Making Church of the 21st Century published in 1996 by Christian Literature Crusade. Tangeman posits in this book that the church exists to glorify God by making disciples, and that pastors and lay leaders alike need to understand and utilize certain crucial principles of ministry to accomplish this goal. Discovery Cube Orange County Hosted Sherlock Family Night Under the Stars with Special Access to the World-Class Sherlock Holmes Exhibit

Families were invited to grab their detective gear for a special evening of sleuthing with Sherlock Holmes. On Friday, July 31 Discovery Cube Orange County hosted ‘Sherlock Family Night at the Cube’ offering exclusive access to Discovery Cube Orange County, including its newly expanded campus and the world-class traveling exhibit The International Exhibit of Sherlock Holmes. Plus, families enjoyed an outdoor showing of The Great Mouse Detective under the stars.

The International Exhibit of Sherlock Holmes is open at Discovery Cube OC for a limited time, through September 7. Visitors of this world-class exhibit making its California debut can learn how Sherlock Holmes, a scientific expert, used seemingly trivial observations of clues others missed to solve the most puzzling of mysteries. This 10,000 square-foot “who done it” exhibition features original manuscripts and artifacts, investigative tools, and crime-solving opportunities. Join the Mayor & City Council for family style fun and a spectacular fireworks show at the City of Santa Ana’s 2015 Independence Day Celebration at Centennial Park on Saturday, July 4, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm. “Santa Ana’s annual tradition on 4th of July is to have fun, show your patriotism, picnic at the park, enjoy great music, learn about history, and watch a spectacular fireworks show over the Centennial Park lakes,” said Santa Ana Council Member David Benavides.

The Independence Day celebration will feature live performances by the Full Spectrum Band and Santa Ana High School. Orange County, CA (April, 2015) – Healthy kids make for a healthy community. For the past 20 years KidWorks Santa Ana has known this axiom to be true. Day in, day out, it is the mission of KidWorks to provide all of the tools necessary for at-risk children to grow up and prosper and find their own unique identity.
