Come “Celebrate Easter” with Fairhaven Memorial Park on Sunday, April 5 at 6 a.m. In association with Christian Business Men’s Connection (CBMC) of Orange County, Fairhaven’s 21st annual Easter Sunrise Service will feature special guest speakers Steve Garrison with CBMC, Pastor Nathan Hausch with St. John’s Lutheran Church and Pastor Derrick Rosenior with Orange County First Assembly.

The Bowers Museum invites you to a Free Celtic Family Festival on Sunday, March 1 from 11am to 4pm. This family-friendly celebration is free and fun for all ages, and will feature children’s art activities, live music by the Innisfree Irish Band and award-winning bagpipe musician Forrest Cormany. The event will also feature a special presentation by the Butler-Fearon-O’Connor School of Irish Dance, which has been named the number one Irish dance school in the United States. The Free Celtic Family Festival includes free admission to both the Bowers Museum and the Bowers Kidseum, and the first 1,500 attendees will receive free admission to the specially-ticketed China’s Lost Civilization: The Mystery of Sanxingdui exhibit. The Bowers Museum is located at 2002 N. Main St. in Santa Ana, just a few blocks from the 5 Freeway at the Main Street South exit in Santa Ana and a few short minutes from the 22, 55 and 57 freeways. Noche de Justicia

The Spurgeon Social Justice Club is hosting a Noche de Justicia” on Thursday, December 18th, from 5-7 pm in the C-Quad at Spurgeon Intermediate School on Fifth and Fairview in Santa Ana, CA. It is a celebration of the Brown vs. Board of Education Decision that desegregated public education in the United States. The event is open to students, parents, SAUSD staff, and community members. There will be music, performances, and food. There is no charge for the event.

It will be a great event filled with Danza Azteca, great music from the Valley Marching Band (including Spurgeon students) and the Spurgeon choir, spoken word from the community, great speakers, and the unveiling of the mural “In Defense of Santa Ana” created by the Spurgeon students who attended the “History of Santa Ana” class this summer at Spurgeon. Riverview neighbors celebrate their 7th Annual Posadas

Residents in Santa Ana’s Riverview Neighborhood have been making a difference in their community by celebrating the Posadas Navideñas for the past four years. The Posadas Navideñas is a traditional Mexican reenactment of the search for lodging that Mary and Joseph did nine days before the birth of Jesus.

The Gallardo family in Riverview schedules a night for the Posada to be held at their home, starting on the 16th of December and finishing on the 24th of December, which is called Noche Buena.

The founder of this event, Manuel Gallardo, along with his family and neighbors continue to preserve this wonderful and beloved holiday tradition and culture. This is their 7th year doing this wonderful event. Continue reading→

The Patchwork Show will be taking place once more in Santa Ana this Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, from 11 am to 5 pm, in Downtown Santa Ana.  Over the years, Patchwork has grown from a small parking lot craft fair into multiple locations including street festivals and large indoor marketplaces.  All Patchwork Show events are FREE to the public.

The Patchwork Show features 160+ local vendors selling diverse handmade goods (see our gallery for a closer look), curated food trucks, DIY stations to get your craft on,food artisan area, live music and rotating services like photo booths, bike valet and gift-wrapping depending on the location and season.

Vendors are selected through a jury process and feature clothing for men, women & kids, handbags, accessories, jewelry, art, ceramics, garden finds, home goods, plushies, crochet & knit items, pet gear, kits & patterns, bath & body goodies and more!

OC Parks Red Ribbon Week

OC Parks is proud to partner with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) in the countywide Red Ribbon Week for the fourth year. OCSD will distribute 1,000,000 Red Ribbon wristbands to every school-aged child in public and private schools, as well as many businesses and government agencies throughout Orange County.

Since 1988, Orange County has been celebrating Red Ribbon Week, which is a national drug prevention effort. Red Ribbon Week is celebrated during the last week of October each year in schools and communities to increase awareness about alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention, as well as to kick-off a year of prevention that promotes drug-free lifestyles.   • Friday, October 3rd: 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Saturday, October 4th: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
  • Sunday, October 5th: 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Note: Carnival will remain open until 10:00 PM on Sunday.
  • Parade: Saturday @ 10:00 AM.  The parade will start at the corner of Main and Pacific and end at Prospect and Beneta at the Festival Grounds.

Community Alert: Thousands Expected at 36th Annual Fiestas Santa Ana Weekend Event & Parade on September 12-14

SANTA ANA, CA (September 9, 2014) – Thousands are expected to converge on the City of Santa Ana for the 36th Annual Fiestas Santa Ana Weekend Event & Parade on Fourth Street. The festivities begin on Friday, September 12 at 5:00pm with carnival rides provided by Christian Amusements. The street fair will be held on Saturday and Sunday starting at noon with great food, information booths and cultural products for sale.

Entertainers include Banda Arkangel R-15, El Dasa, Banda Tierra Explosiva, Marisa Ronstandt-Mendoza, Los Chicos de la Calle, and Adriana La Morenita. Continue reading→
