2014 OC Fair First Full Week Features Performances by Karmin, Monster X Tour and Bad Religion Plus Free Activities and Family Fun July 16-20

Plus the OC Fair will salute Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Juan Capistrano, San Clemente on select days July 16-18 with a community flag salute and discounts.

Costa Mesa, Calif. (July 14, 2014) – The 2014 OC Fair (July 11-August 10) continues onto its first full week of summer fun featuring world-class entertainment, deep-fried munchies, Texas-sized donuts, daily exhibits and thrilling rides and games. The Fair is closed Monday and Tuesday.

Get half off tickets for the Best Taste of Santa Ana

Food from Chapter One will be part of the Best Taste of Santa Ana

Discounted tickets are now available for the upcoming Best Taste of Santa Ana, a huge fundraising festival in Downtown Santa Ana, set for Sunday, July 20 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, from Amazon Local. The discounted tickets cost $20, which is 50% off the full price of $40 per ticket. This offer is good through July 19, 2014.

You can also buy discounted tickets for $25 each, an offer that expired today, directly from the Assistance League of Santa Ana, which is organizing the Best Taste of Santa Ana, at this link. They will stop selling tickets on July 15, 2014.

Between 20 – 30 of the hottest local Santa Ana restaurants will be distributing samples of their delicious food. This wonderful event will take place on Fourth Street between Birch and Ross in Downtown Santa Ana from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Say goodbye to The Crosby and hello to The North Left

The Crosby in downtown Santa Ana, which closed indefinitely earlier this year after a deadly beating outside the restaurant-nightclub, has reopened as The North Left, according to the O.C. Register. They opened on June 7, 2014, according to their website.

There is a new chef at this new restaurant – Chef Ryan Adams of Three Seventy Common Kitchen+Drink in Laguna Beach.

Santa Ana Unified School District Provides Free LUNCHES THROUGH Summer FEEDING Program

SANTA ANA, CA — June 18, 2014 – The Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) will be participating in a free summer lunch program at 42 schools and 8 park sites within the district boundary between June 23rd to August 22nd.

The federally-funded program operates Monday through Thursday at most schools, with a select number of locations operating Monday through Friday. The program is open to all children ages 1 to 18, no income requirements or registration is necessary, and all participants must eat their lunch at the site. Continue reading→

Patchwork Show, an arts and crafts fair, set for June 15 in DTSA

The Patchwork Show, an annual event that draws 180 crafts makers and 5-8,000 people to the downtown Santa Ana area, is set for June 15, 2014. This free special arts & craft fair will feature high end artisan food makers, textiles, plush toys and vegan body care. There will be three stages of music as well as free interactive stations so that visitors can participate and make crafts.

Area restaurants will also have Father’s Day & event specials throughout the day. The event will feature shuttle service from the Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC) to the downtown area to aid with parking. Continue reading→

The Valley High School Culinary Arts team of High School Inc. Academy continue to reign as the nation’s culinary arts champions after clinching first-place for the third time in a row at the National Cooking up Change® competition that was held Monday, June 9, 2014, in Washington, D.C. Their journey began this spring when they competed against other high school students enrolled in culinary arts programs in Orange County and won first place. Every Friday night is Pizza Night at my house and over the years we have tried just about every pizza joint in Santa Ana, but hands down our favorite is Rafael’s Pizza, located at 128 W. MacArthur Blvd., near Main St., in Santa Ana.

The owner of Rafael’s, Rafael Dibernardo, has owned the pizza shop for 25 years as of this month. Overall it has been open for 38 years. It was previously called “Rubino’s Pizza.” Rafael’s pizza is simply amazing.

Festival to Honor Exceptional Educators

GARDEN GROVE, CA (February 12, 2014) — The 56th Annual Garden Grove Strawberry Festival is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for the community. This annual event has brought
in over $6 million for local charities since its inception in 1958. In 2013 twelve non-profits received a combined total of over $119,000.00. The Festival also annually benefits many non-profit groups who set up festival food booths and collectively raise over $100,000 more for their charities. The board also awards scholarships to local school students and underwrites parade participation for school bands. And annually, the festival treats over 2,000 special needs kids to a day of free rides and food.

This year’s theme is Honoring Our Exceptional Educators, and many outstanding teachers will be
