Two more Santa Ana men injured this evening in gang-related shootings

In case you were wondering why the SAPD closed the eastbound lanes of West McFadden Ave., from South Fairview to South Sullivan Streets, late this afternoon, it was because of yet another gang-related shooting.

SAPD police officers were called to the 2600 block of West McFadden Ave., just west of Jerome Park, at 4:35 p.m., where they came across a man who had a gunshot wound in his upper body, according to the O.C. Register.

The victim ended up at a local hospital where he was said to be alert and in serious but stable condition. Continue reading→

Two robbery suspects may have also run down a pedestrian with their car

The SAPD arrested two robbery suspects on Monday, a few hours after a gang-related attack in which a pedestrian was struck by a car that appeared similar to the one used in the robbery, according to the O.C. Register.

SAPD police officers got a call at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, regarding some teenagers who were robbed of their money and their skateboards while they were at Centennial Regional Park, which has a skate park, located at 3000 W. Garden Grove man dies after being shot in the head by a Santa Ana gangbanger

Phung Dinh Le of Garden Grove, a 19-year-old man, has died after being shot in the head in what the SAPD is terming a gang-related attack early on Sunday morning, at 2 a.m., at the 2800 block of West Edinger, near Centennial Regional Park, according to the O.C. Register.

Le was driving with his friends, westbound on West Edinger, when a light-colored compact vehicle full of gangbangers pulled up next to them. Continue reading→

Man injured in car-to-car gang shooting this morning near Centennial Regional Park

A man was injured today in what the SAPD is calling a gang-related shooting while he was driving at the 2800 block of West Edinger Ave., near Centennial Regional Park, according to the O.C. Register.

Man injured in drive-by shooting at South Birch and West Chestnut

Another day, another drive-by shooting, as a man was injured in an attack the SAPD believes was gang-related, on Thursday night just after 10:15 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The drive-by shooting happened at the intersection of South Birch Street and West Chestnut Ave.

A male victim was shot once. He was walking in the area when he saw a vehicle that may have been gray in color. He heard the sound of gunshots and felt pain. Continue reading→

Murderous gangbanger Irv Tellez sentenced to 102 years to life in prison

Gangbanger Irvin “Irv” Tellez, 27, will be spending the rest of his life in prison, after killing Nancy Hammour in 2014 and trying to kill another Santa Ana woman as well, according to the O.C. Register.

Tellez was sentenced on Friday to 102 years to life in prison. The former champion handball player will never set foot in a public park again. Continue reading→

AT-RISK YOUTH EARN 850 TURKEY DINNERS IN OCDA’S 6TH ANNUAL THANKSGIVING GANG PREVENTION INCENTIVE

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Turkey dinners will be awarded today to 850 at-risk students who succeeded in Orange County Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership’s (OC GRIP) 6th annual Thanksgiving challenge to improve their attendance, behavior, and grades in time for Thanksgiving.

Ralphs/Food 4 Less and Saddleback Church donated over 850 turkey dinners this year compared to 400 in years past, as part of the ongoing OC GRIP gang prevention effort to keep kids in school and out of gangs. The total donation is valued at over $25,000. OC GRIP extended the incentive to students at 51 schools this year. Continue reading→

Man with no gang ties shot while standing on his porch, on South Minnie St.

The situation in some parts of Santa Ana is getting so bad that you are not safe even when you are at home. Consider what just happened on Wednesday night. An unidentified 22-year-old man who was shot while he was standing in front of his home, at the 900 block of South Minnie Street, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

The incident happened at about 7:20 p.m. The SAPD police officers who responded to the incident found the victim on his porch, with a gunshot to his upper body. Apparently he had been standing on his porch, facing the street, when an unidentified male fired one gunshot from the sidewalk and then fled on foot. Continue reading→

Murder charge against a gangbanger dropped when he agrees to testify against his friend

Jaime Prieto Rocha, 42, a Santa Ana gangbanger pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter on Friday and agreed to testify against his fellow gang member, 27-year-old Irvin Tellez, in exchange for prosecutors dropping a murder charge, according to the O.C. Register.

Rocha was sentenced in Harbor Court on Friday to 16 years in prison.

Rocha and Tellez left a bloody trail in Santa Ana on Sept. 2, 2013, when Tellez shot one woman and left her with permanent injuries and shot another, who died in the back seat of Rocha’s car. Continue reading→

Man found bleeding from a neck wound near Our Lady of Guadalupe Church

An unidentified man in his 30s was found walking while bleeding from a wound in the neck today at 2:55 p.m., at the 200 block of North Grand Ave., in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

SAPD police officers found the man after they received a call about him. The victim was taken to the Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he underwent surgery. The man is expected to survive. Continue reading→

Gang member shot in the head and back in the French Park Neighborhood

A 21-year-old unidentified local gang member was shot in the head and back on Sunday night at around 9:15 pm., while driving an SUV in the French Park neighborhood, at the 1200 block of North Lacy, just south of Washington, according to the O.C. Register.

The SAPD police who responded to a call of shots fired found the shooting victim inside a vehicle.

Police reported that the shooter’s vehicle, a gray sedan, pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle, yelled out a rival gang name and then shots were fired. Continue reading→

Another day, another gang murder. This time a man was fatally shot in what police are saying was a possibly gang-related attack, at about 7:35 p.m., at the 1700 block of North Spurgeon St., according to the O.C. Register.

Two teens shot in gang shooting just west of Santa Ana, in Garden Grove

A gang-related shooting took place on Friday afternoon at about 2:18 p.m. just a few blocks west of Santa Ana, at the 12600 block of Keel Avenue, in Garden Grove, according to the O.C. Register.

The Garden Grove Police Department responded to the shooting, at an apartment complex after a caller told them that two people had been shot. The police officers found the victims in the complex, near the playground. Continue reading→
