Jose De Jesus Gomez-Ochoa, 30, Tustin, is charged with one felony count of special circumstances murder for criminal street gang purpose, one felony count of unlawful possession of a firearm, and sentencing enhancements for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death, criminal street gang activity, the personal use of a firearm, and prior strike convictions for participation in a criminal street gang in 2011 and 2012, and criminal street gang member in possession of a firearm in 2012. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison without parole. On 6/20/16, detectives arrested Jose De Jesus Gomez Ochoa (30 years old). Gomez resides in Tustin; however, he is a documented Santa Ana gang member. On 6/19/16, at 19:19 hours, officers were dispatched to 1700 S. Evergreen regarding a shooting with a male victim down. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, Eliu Armando Gramajo (52 years old), suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. SANTA ANA, Calif. – A criminal street gang member was sentenced today to 50 years to life in state prison for the shooting murder of a fellow gang member and taking the victim’s bike to flee the scene. Daniel Alvarez, 22, Orange, was found guilty by a jury on Sept. 23, 2015, of one felony count of murder and one felony count of possession of a firearm by a probationer with a sentencing enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death.
At the time of the crime, Alvarez and the victim, 18-year-old Bruno Ugalde, were members of the same criminal street gang. Alvarez was on formal probation. Continue reading→

Peter Ojeda, one of the original Mexican Mafia bosses, was sentenced Monday to 15 years in prison for federal racketeering charges, according to the O.C. Register.
Even though Ojeda was in jail for many years he continued to control crime in local neighborhoods and in the jails via his large gang network.

A 17-year-old boy was the victim of a drive-by shooting at a Santa Ana bus stop on Friday night, according to the O.C. Register.

Phillip Nguyen, 15, Garden Grove, is direct filed as an adult and charged with one felony count of attempted murder with willful deliberation and premeditation, and sentencing enhancements for the personal use of a firearm causing great bodily injury and criminal street gang activity. If convicted, Nguyen faces a maximum sentence of 32 years to life in state prison. Two unidentified men were shot in an alley off of West Myrtle Street in Santa Ana at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, according to the O.C. Register.

Santa Ana’s latest gang-related shooting happened on Friday at Centennial Park at around 5:30 p.m. when three male Hispanic adult suspects shot confronted a lone Hispanic man and one of the suspects ended up firing a single round, hitting the victim in his upper torso, according to the O.C. Register.

Thursday night was a hot one for the SAPD. There were two gang-related fatalities that kept them very busy.
In the first incident, Kevin Sotelo, 24 was riding a bike at the 4000 block of West Hazard Ave., when he was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting. Multiple shots were directed at the unfortunate bicyclist from a vehicle, according to the SAPD.
SAPD police officers responded to the scene of the shooting at approximately 8:38 p.m. Police officers found the victim, Sotelo, at the intersection of Hazard and Morse suffering from several gunshot wounds. One of our readers reported yesterday on our Facebook page that there was a shooting at Centennial Park. Today that was verified by the O.C. Register as they reported that one man was shot and two others pistol-whipped by gangbangers at Centennial park on Tuesday afternoon.
The suspects, as many as six males, approached three 19-year-old men at the park, which is located at 3000 Edinger Ave., yesterday at around 4 p.m. Then, as usual, the suspects asked the victims where they were from and gunfire ensued, leaving one victim wounded in his lower torso.
