Green Party event at the Delhi Center

The Green Party of Orange County presents “Calling All Rebels: The Moral Imperative to Revolt,” hosted by KPFK 90.7 FM’s Andrew Tonkovich, on Sep. 20, 2015, starting at 5 p.m., at the Delhi Center, located at 505 E. Central Ave., in Santa Ana.

After the event there will be a 1 hour Reception for Chris Hedges in a smaller room at the Delhi Center. Tickets will be $100. It will include Cheese and Wine. Only 70 tickets will be available. Chris will be at the event signing books. at 6 p.m.

Coneybeare Cleantech Leaders Conference to Target Drought Crisis in Southern California

Inaugural May 14 event attracts renowned leaders in water conservation and green technology innovation

IRVINE, CALIF – As the region’s water supply becomes more imperiled by the day and global temperatures continue to rise, some of the greatest minds in the clean technology field will be coming to Southern California to discuss the world’s most severe environmental challenges and offer solutions. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 14 at the Eureka Building in Irvine, and admission is $69.

Community Alert: Santa Ana wins 2014 Green California Leadership Award for developing a plan that reduced the City’s carbon footprint

Santa Ana, CA (April 17, 2014) The City of Santa Ana is pleased to announce that the Facilities-Fleet-Central Stores (FFCS) Division is the 2014 Green California Leadership Award winner in the Transportation category. The award is given by Green Technology Magazine, the e-magazine arm of a California non-profit initiative designed to provide a forum for connecting public and private leaders and resources to promote the development and distribution of sustainable green technologies.

City of Santa Ana, Downtown Orange County Community Alert: Santa Ana Goes Green Again for Solar Projects

SANTA ANA, CA (March 21, 2013) – The Santa Ana City Council voted unanimously at its March 18th meeting to extend the City’s Solar Permit Fee Waiver program for an additional two years.

Since the program began in 2008, the number of solar projects in Santa Ana has risen significantly. In 2012, 65 solar projects came online, a 30 percent increase from the previous year. Continue reading→

Santa Ana Ecology Day Camp Offers Scholarships

The owner of a local Ecology Summer Day Camp is offering a limited number of scholarships and discounts for the 2012 program near the border of Santa Ana and Orange.

Students in the camp—open to ages 6-14—will learn the fundamentals of environmental science as they explore habitat of the Santiago Park Nature Reserve (on Memory Lane, between La Veta and Main streets). Topics covered will include: introduction to the local native ecosystem; basic scientific and ecological principles; examination of microscopic organisms in the park and its creek; conservation importance (energy, water, resources); and reasons and ways to avoid pollution while protecting the environment. Back to Natives RECEIVES $1,000 GRANT FROM DISNEY FOR VOLUNTEER HABITAT RESTORATION PROGRAM

IRVINE, Calif., May 23, 2012 – Back to Natives Restoration, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit public charity has received a $1,000 grant from Disney to support its Volunteer Habitat Restoration Program.

Back to Natives is collaborating with the City of Santa Ana at the Santiago Park Nature Reserve, where student volunteers remove invasive plants and plant native plants. Volunteers learn about the importance of biodiversity and habitat restoration as they perform meaningful community service to improve the Reserve for both wildlife and humans. Come assist Back to Natives at our Nursery in Santa Ana’s lovely Santiago Park! We will be propagating and caring for native plants that will be used for habitat restoration or to help raise funds for our environmental education and habitat restoration programs.

Depending on what needs to be accomplished, you may be seeding, transplanting, weeding, watering, organizing, building displays, constructing a demonstration garden, etc. Bring gloves if you have them, or borrow ours. Cloth diapers have come a long way in the past ten years, and The Great Cloth Diaper Change event serves to raise awareness of cloth diapering and create some added buzz and excitement too!
