“Getting to Zero” – December 1st is World AIDS Day
(Santa Ana) – December 1st is World AIDS Day, an international day of reflection to remember those who have died and those who are living with HIV or AIDS (HIV disease). World AIDS Day 2011 is about “Getting to Zero”: Zero New HIV Infections, Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS Related Deaths. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that approximately 33.4 million people are living today with HIV disease, including over 1.2 million people in the United States. One in five (21%) of those people living with HIV is unaware of their infection (CDC, 2010). Continue reading
