A motorcyclist died after crashing into a pole in Santa Ana on Sunday morning

Many of our Facebook readers were wondering what happened today, Sunday, Jan. 12, after the SAPD closed streets at First and Grand. It turns out there was a fatal motorcycle accident, according to the O.C. Register.

Authorities received a call from a witness this morning, at about 11 a.m., after a man driving a motorcycle lost control and crashed into a pole, at the 1000 block of East First St., between Standard and Grand Avenues.

The SAPD police officers who responded found the sole rider of the motorcycle to be unresponsive.

The victim was taken to OC Global Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead, according to the SAPD. They did not reveal his identity and the crash is still under investigation.

A Santa Ana resident, David Mark Terman, 59, died in a head-on motorcycle collision on Sunday, according to the O.C. Register.

Terman was on a motorcycle with Edith Mae Hegy, 62, of Elko, Nevada. They both died in the crash.

The Register reported that a Harley-Davidson, with a rider and a passenger, were traveling north about a quarter-mile south of Hicks Haul Road, northwest of Silverado Canyon and south of Irvine Lake and tried to pass a vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol said: It went into opposing traffic and slammed into a second motorcycle, a Honda, with two people aboard.

The others that were killed in the crash were Regina Michelle Crowder, 48, of Fountain Valley and Jon Michael Schwarz, 50, of Tustin. Each motorcycle involved in the collision was carrying a man and a woman.

Terman’s current Facebook page noted that he was “getting into carpentry work instead of plumbing.” He was a Missionary at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was originally from Indianapolis, Indiana.

Advisory: Detectives Request Assistance In Identifying Motorcycle Theft Suspects and Vehicle

The suspects shown above were captured on video surveillance driving into the parking garage of 15 MacArthur Place in a white Chevrolet Astro van (no plates) on 12/8/17 at 5:45pm. Both suspects exited and stole the victim’s red 2015 Ducati 1299s motorcycle (CA#23E6499), placing it in the back of the van.

A similar motorcycle theft was made by the same suspects in the same area approximately two months ago. Continue reading→

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a car this morning near Thornton Park

An unidentified 31-year-old man was struck and killed by a car as he rode his motorcycle near Segerstrom Avenue and Spruce Street this morning at around 6:15 a.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The unfortunate motorcyclist collided with a small car and he was declared to be deceased at the scene by paramedics, according to the O.C. Fire Authority. Continue reading→

Woman hurt after crashing her motorcycle into a car at Bristol and Santa Clara

An unidentified woman in her 20s ended up at the trauma unit of a local hospital after she crashed her motorcycle into a car on Friday night, at Bristol Street and Santa Clara Ave., in Santa Ana, at 7:45 p.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The woman’s injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. She is recovering at UCI Medical Center, in stable condition. Continue reading→

Person of Interest in Fatal Motorcycle Accident Located

Santa Ana, Ca. (August 18, 2016) – On Wednesday, August 17, 2016, Orange County Sheriff’s Department Traffic Bureau investigators arrested Damon Ellery Block, 41, following an investigation of a fatal traffic collision that occurred on Santiago Canyon Road in Modjeska Canyon.

On August 1, 2016, a fatal vehicle vs. motorcycle accident occurred on Santiago Canyon Road in Modjeska Canyon. The driver of the motorcycle died, and the female passenger on the motorcycle was severely injured. 18-year-old motorcyclist in critical condition after crashing into two vehicles

An unidentified 18-year-old man crashed into two vehicles on Tuesday night at around 7:30 p.m. while he was speeding on a 2015 KTM Sport motorcycle, in Costa Mesa, just south of Paularino Elementary School, according to the O.C. Register.

The victim was driving westbound in the right-hand lane of Baker Street, approaching Coolidge Ave. Apparently he was driving too fast when he collided into a 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe that was being driven by 81-year-old Costa Mesa resident Gertrude Hall. She was in front the of the motorcyclist, in the same lane, when she began to turn right on Coolidge Avenue. The motorcyclist was not expecting the turn by Hall and he ran right into the side of her SUV. Continue reading→

CHP officer crashes his motorcycle at West Warner and South Parton St.

A California Highway Patrol officer on a motorcycle was injured at 5:35 p.m., on Wednesday, when he crashed while going west on West Warner Ave., according to the O.C. Register.

A vehicle that was going in the opposite direction attempted to make a left turn onto South Parton Street, but the CHP officer collided into the vehicle as it was making the turn.

The CHP officer apparently was not able to stop or avoid the crash. Continue reading→

Man on new motorcycle slams into the back of a street sweeper and dies

A 25-year-old man was riding a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle southbound on Red Hill Avenue this morning died at 6:45 a.m. when he slammed into the back of a street sweeper, according to the O.C. Register.

The victim has been identified as Mateus Castro. He was ejected from his motorcycle when he crashed into the street sweeper, near the 2800 block of Red Hill, according to the SAPD.

According to his girlfriend, Kenia Plazola, Castro was riding her motorcyle because the brake lights on his own motorcycle were not working and his license plate had broken off. Continue reading→

Extra officers will be on duty patrolling areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes occur looking for violations made by drivers and riders alike. They will be cracking down on both those operating regular vehicles and motorcycles who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, making illegal turns, or any other dangerous violation. Careless motorists as well as riders get special scrutiny

SANTA ANA, Calif. (May 21, 2015) – Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a specialized Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Operation during the Memorial Day weekend in an effort to lower deaths and injuries. Extra officers will be on duty patrolling areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes occur. Officers will be looking for violations made by drivers and riders alike that can lead to motorcycle crashes, including driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, speeding, making illegal turns, or any other dangerous infraction.

Motorcycle fatalities saw a phenomenal drop of 37% from 2008 to 2010, but then rose 23% by 2012. These operations are aimed at curbing further rises in motorcycle deaths and sending the numbers back downward. Continue reading→
